The Squad Gamemode or AI need a Meta Game

Let me Explain.

This game as it stands right Ai combat with players is just a racing game to see who can control their Ai Faster to demolish the other squad,that or the easier answer is to just spam sticks of dynamite. at each other. the Ai in this game needs somekind of overall mechanic to let us know how to place them or where to place them or to let us know what this ai is capable of.

I’ll give and example using another game, a strategy game, Company of Heroes, if we had system. of cover that would let each player know if their squad is in full cover so that other squad could not kill your squad more efectively like.

Full cover AI beats no cover ai.

Assault squad beats rifleman squad in cqc or clearing out houses.
Rifleman Squad Beats Assault squad and medium to long distances.
Sniper Squad beats Assault and Rifle Squad at long distances but is even more useless agaisnt Assault when in CQC.

we desperatly need a meta game mechanic or overall so that each in everyplayer intuively knows what to do in battle.

the player in this kind of game will be the wild card, that with good tactical manuering of the squad and aiming skill could tip the balance.

As is stand right now. the tactics are.
-Rush the cap with more ai and assaulters then the other dude or spam them with dynamite.
-camp out most the the squad in the neaby safe place and have then as respawn points.

We need a meta game.

IMO, the situation of AI in this game:
The most major selling point of this game is AI squad mates.
But currently AI of this game still sucks.
And the improving speed of AI system is still too slow, and dont give me a hope of proper AI soldier at anytime soon.
So I play Lonefighter only.

I agree that AI needs much more work. And good that devs also know it (my assumption based on oficial informations).

System similar to CoH would work well but I don’t know how hard it would be to implement this. Also commanding squad would have to be expanded, this may create an issue. More complicated command system would slow down game considerably. And probably 90% of players would just rush mindlessly.
Additionally, we may end up with RTS - FPS hybrid and tbh I don’t know about any game that did this. So it’s quite risky thing to do.

My other understanding of your post is that you want class specific AI. I guess that’s great idea, although I’m not a programer so I can’t judge how hard it is to make it.
