The vehicle in the image is the Ansaldo MIAS (Mobile Armored Shield), an Italian prototype from the mid-1930s. It was a one-person, ultra-light tracked vehicle designed for reconnaissance and infantry support.

  • The MIAS was intended to provide a single operator with a mobile machine gun and some protection, allowing them to fire from a covered position.
  • It was powered by a 5 hp Frera engine and had a basic track system.

  • The design provided protection from the front and sides, but the rear section was left open.
  • A hinged roof plate could be raised to allow the operator to stand while remaining protected.
  • The MIAS and its variant, the MORAS, were never mass-produced.
