The Semi-Automatic Sniper Conundrum

I’ll be honest, I don’t play Snipers a lot. I’ll have to…eventually when leveling them up…

BUT!

Sure, for gameplay reasons and balancing reasons, you don’t want the semi-auto rifles to hit as hard as the bolt-action ones, I get that, but when it comes to the scoped variants…the fact that it’s not a one shot kill on the avarage ranges you use a sniper rifle is ridiculous. Especially NOW when we have the Lee-Enfield sniper rifle, which you buffed and now you don’t even have to stop aiming down the sights when cycling the bolt. Coupled with a faster bolt-cycling perk and you have a 10 round NEARLY semi-auto rifle with barely any recoil that has the damage of a bolt-action rifle. Buff the semi-auto rifles too.

If I get sniped and I’m only downed, I can’t do much before getting shot again. Plus I don’t think that all nations have bolt-action sniper rifles that act like the Lee-Enfield, besides the scoped machine gun for the Japanese, so it’s once again, rather unbalanced.

buff how because you cannot make them one shit kills, more accurate, higher rate of fire what

I never mentioned that the semi-auto snipers should have faster fire rate, nor that they’re inaccurate. I just want them to have higher damage numbers, or have less of a downward curve for the current numbers at least up to 100 meters.

Like I said, I don’t like playing Snipers all that much, so I’m going off on my own limited experience with these weapons, what I’ve seen from others and the damage numbers. Them having less damage worked, because when using bolt-action rifles, after every shot, you had to stop aiming down the sights / stop looking through the scope to cycle the bolt, which is now not the case for the Lee Enfield, a quasi semi-auto rifle with the stats of a bolt-action one.

If you can always get a one shot, one kill ratio with semi-auto sniper rifles, given how the bots move like they have ADHD and they’re on crack, props to you, but I’m sure that’s not the majority of the player base.

any number you want for semi auto sniper so long as a body hit is a two shot hit/kill for a baseline soldier

Yes, I want 23.5 sniper svt damage.

For the most part, the only snipers I use are BR5 Germans and BR3 Allies. The BR5 Germans I use three sniper squads, all use the Sniper StG 44 with the scope removed, so I essentially have three additional assaulter squads. These are the only sniper squads where I use the ammo bags, which I think gives me 210 rounds.
German BR5 Sniper assault squad

BR3 allies I use the M1 Garand with the scope removed as the main weapon, and I also carry a Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk with the scope as backup, so this is a dual use sniper squad, however I don’t use the sniper rifle nearly as much as the Garand.

Soviets I only use one sniper squad, the premium SKT-40, and they also use the SVT-38 sniper rifle with the scope removed, so it is also a dual use squad. However I rarely use any sniper squads with the Soviets or Japanese, I just have the Soviets set up to use them that way.

any semi-automatic and automatic machine is universal
The sight removal mechanism doesn’t do anything supernatural.
Personally, I only respect AVS as a sniper system.
although I used to run with MKB and STG
But I realized that there is nothing better than Soviet snipers.
And the decisive factor is the recharge and multiplicity of optics.

Hm - or just give all semis bolt action like damage, while lowering select fire damage to hit as hard as MGs (no one hit downs vs vitality)

That would make semis definitely worth it, and even allow to move some up into BR5.

then you just have to remove all semi autos from br2, and lock games to
br1-2
br3-4 4-5
or
br 1 2 3 4 5
otherwise bolt actions are useless
