The reason why current Stalingrad doesn't feel like Stalingrad

The devs choose to make early war version of the city while most of us either grew up or are more familiar with late war Stalingrad.

Much more destroyed buildings, craters, more rubble, less colorful too and oh snow everywhere is a must

So with the tractor factory map coming what would you think if the devs made a variation of current Stalingrad but late war with snow and more destruction everywhere, i don’t think it would be too hard to make they already have the map just need to add snow and a little bit more rubble

And by late or early war i mean the fighting in Stalingrad and not WW2 in general ofc

In general they can just add more maps. Overtime we’ll get more maps for all campaigns. For example the Pacific still has a lot of places to visit

I think the problem present as of right now is the lack of variety. Stalingrad feels like playing the same map over and over again with very little variety. I think the Berlin Campaign did a much better job of providing different environments to the urban combat even when the maps are in very close proximity to one another

Why it doesnt feel like Stalingrad?

Because it was a close quarters hellhole where most men were armed with Bolt action rifles and simple SMGs, melee fighting, it was brutal

In game since they added MKBs and AVTs to everyone basically, it killed that feeling of brutality, that feeling where youre scared shitless pushing into an apartment building with a K98k.

The feeling where the mosin is your best friend against a powerful german attack.

The MKBs/AVT/AVS take away that magical feeling, and they ruin gameplay by making it too fast. Basically they can wipe squads from decent range fast, do great damage.

Thats why Stalingrad is bad since its just a worse Berlin reskin. It shouldnt have went with the full-auto no historical accuracy mess that we have now.

The german movie Stalingrad 1993, perfectly encapsulates the feeling of haplessness. The close quarters fighting.

TLDR:

ARs are the problem here

The solution would be to limit people, but the vast majority want to spam assault rifles or SMGs, so there is nothing to do

There is, just depends on wishes of the devs

Basically add a “realistic” gamemode like in WT.

It would not allow you to take non-historical weapons and highly limit more trophy, rare weapons such as (AVS/Federov/FG42/) limit the amount of late war weapons you might be able to take in, so you cant just spam 3 -4 man PPSH/STG squads.

That is just in a nutshell and a few features of the mode

premade can just go full SMG or AR
It should be limited as it was red orchestra, Only 3 people can go assault, 2 snipers, 2 artillerymen, 1 engineer and 20 riflemen
And you could not choose the side to play before the game

All battle are rapresented from their early state to their later state

You can see it in normandy development, it started with the battle near the beach and now is adapting the one in french hinterland

I suppose we need give them time

But

If we want complain we need do it on the fact that map development is to slow compared to the rest of the game

well… not really.

they simply went for something … weird.

because it’s neither at the beginning ( due to equipment ) and neither too late ( locations ).

so, we have a mixing.
it’s not like normandy that is somewhat distinct.
recognizable.

and above all, unique.

stalingrad i love it because it’s stalingrad and has potential, but they just simply mixed things up.

although from the first images, the tank factory seems a good step in the right direction.

as for the univermag would have been a bit more interesting in the snow as you said.

i mean. i’m sure they can make changes ( even though the pacific still has tesco stuff … )

so idk.

but maybe that’s just me.

Well what changes do you suggest?

From what i understand, correct me if i am wrong you think that the maps are the problem?

I explained my POV above, i just have a hard time understanding yours

yes.

i think that in order to make stalingrad feel more stalingrad would be to first and foremost, make maps.

imo, the current maps feels boring. just giant corridors with ( which it’s good on one side, and bad for others ) buildings to go inside.

but it’s pretty stale and the same.

the only one that is slighlty different and fun, is the train station.

even though, ( thankfully ) i never been in stalingrad. i only have a few pictures depicted by games & films ( which don’t necessary have to be faitfully reproduced as long it gives an experience and works for gameplay )

mostly noticable, from RO2, gates of hell, and i guess partially HLL.

those were the actual jam.

but again, i could be wrong. and it’s just my opinion after all.

What you probably want me to say

second change that i would make, remove the locked pay wall levels as it prevets more people to join in.

and last but not least, create a vanguard class and actually give them the wonder weapons that weren’t ( and shouldn’t be ) there available for everyone. ( similar to the sniper squad. 3 of these class and a few troopers )

but that’s just me i guess. and another discussion for another time.

what it matters in this topic, Stalingrad doesn’t feel Stalingrad because of the map.

Partial agree

The maps are in my opinion pretty good. We still need a lot more, but they get the job done.

My real problem well, as everybody on forums knows is the ARs and SFs. Aka the weaponry, that kinda ruins the maps, and the flow. Makes it too fast and unfun if you ask me.

Well, The sharpest difference between real and current Stalingrad is that nobody asked my grandgranddads to pay 30$ for factory new exclusive lend-lease weapons back in Stalingrad :grinning:.

Imo:

  • stalingrad doesn’t feel like stalingrad, it’s just a big city battle
  • normandy doesn’t feel like normandy, it’s just a beach battle
  • tunesia doesn’t feel like tunesia, it’s just a desert bettle

TLDR:
I can’t say why but the game doesn’t feel like World War 2, it feels like a war.
And the worst part is that I can’t say why. Otherwise, I would have already written 5 posts about it.

And this dont even should happen, with a city big as Berlin they can make tons of map and recreate all the battle for the city piece by piece, i dont know what pass in their head for that campaign But for sure not something good

Still no reichstaig

I like Stalingrad.

Seriously, it’s fun. Probably just an impression, but I feel like bots are more violent in here, and weaponry quite deadly, yet a bit more difficult to use (example lmgs unusable for axis, no good bipod mechanism).

Problem isn’t Mkb42h, nor Avs/Avt. I’m with @Shiivex here. They’re fun. Also as a Red Orchestra 2, AND 1 veteran, gotta say mkb42h was present in both, and those 2 games are still the best ww2 representations I ever played to date.

Weaponry is fine. In fact, Stalingrad is even the most balanced campaign of all 6, weaponry wise.

No, what Stalingrad needs is more maps. And rejoice (I certainly am!) Devs ARE creating new ones, the upcoming one being a location I dreamed about since the campaign was still in development!

I wouldn’t mind a SEPARATE mode, or event, allowing limited historical loadout thought (in which mkb42h is present, kekeke, cause assaulting grain elevator like in RO2 with em is dope). Just not replacing what we have now… Cause IT IS fun.

Have to agree that ARs are a problem in Enlisted. It’s not fun running into full squads filled with MKB-42’s, Fedorovs, or AVTs. ARs really shouldn’t be a Trooper weapon at this point, but if the devs change it the whales will screech.

And for some reason the bots hide quite well in the buildings and the ruins making the entire enemy team have to be present at the point in order to win it

I dont see the destruction as an issue. I love that the first map/“s” is in the early phase.

My main issue is that it lacks new urban warfare. It feels like Berlin but with more park, railwaay and less rubble. I hope for fights within the blocks, more house fights and hopefully even without tanks and planes. Some inf modes would be nice.

A problem of SG is that it contained a lot of skirmishes later on, not really those large scale assaults we have rn with the current team and vehicle set up.

Apart from that, just one map is kinda boring anyway.
