The game render everything onscreen relative to the brightest value. Similar to pointing a digital camera at the sun, when a bright object is in view everything is darken to preserve the details of the brightest object so that it’s not a shape of pure white. Everything else that have been darken lost details as it’s too black.
The same behavior happen when there is a point light in the frame, but to a lesser extent.
Suggestion: Reduce the brightness of engineer buildable
