The flamethrower is almost perfect. However its performance inside buildings and bunkers is not right yet

So i have been grinding away and finally unlocked the flamethrower the other night and have been playing with it (frustratingly) for some time now.

Here are the amazing things

  1. Range is perfect. Not too short not too far. Seems about right for what a flamethrower could do.
  2. the visual effects are great. The fire looks amazing. First game where a flamethrower looks really really good.
  3. Its very dangerous for the operator to use , if you are too aggressive with it you will get hit with your own fire. You cant just run around using it. Because you light up the entire map.

Here is the bad thing

Its SO close to behaving just right for a flamethrower. When you shoot it at the ground and walls it leaves “puddles” that keep setting people on fire. Thats great and effective. However , when you shoot it into a confined space , it does not “bounce around” and immolate the whole room. It makes its main purpose (bunker clearing) difficult because if you are shooting through a slit or a door , you have to somehow shoot the floor to get the most effect. There needs to be something done so when you shoot it inside a room it does more area of effect damage or something. Maybe it sprinkles those molotov embers all over the room if you hit a wall or something

Man this game gets so many things right ,but this is something im with ya on. I would love to see the “puddling” effect of the flamethrowers expanded on. Maybe add a 1 foot / half meter radius that the flame pool could spread out to. The only other complaint I have is that I feel like the “splash back” effect for the wielder is a tiny bit too much. if they could another 1/4 second delay to that effect , I feel as though the flamethrower would be perfect. Oh and the backpack tank exploding under direct fire would be freaking sweet!

Currently, as you need a direct line of sight, it’s more like a short range smg with “incendiary” rounds. People on fire can still shoot you. The flame should ricochet, so you can pour around the corners, just as it’s meant to be in RL.

traditionally the backpack tank would not explode if ever.

You would need 2 things to happen.

You would need a incindeiary round, and you would need it to pass through both the fuel tank and the air tank. and even then it likely would not explode saving private ryan style
