unfortunately your studio made the same mistake it frequently makes, failure to use the perspective of the average player when implementing new mechanics.
if you had put this “feature” in front of a focus group before pushing it to live, they would have made you aware it was extremely flawed.
since it is obvious your studio’s current design process is flawed you should probably make adjustments to it. having a focus group test things on the dev server and provide feedback before live release would be a good start.
for everyone saying “open beta is to test these types of things”, actually no. open beta is for identifying and fixing bugs. core mechanics are supposed to be figured out in alpha. to push these types of poorly conceptualized new mechanics into a live game that players are paying $ for is unprofessional at best.
damn straight. this game still feels like an alpha sometimes
Fix the explosive pack spam, it’s a fps game not some nade throwing contest.
I think the nature of game development has changed past those rigid definitions that defined progress in the past.
This game is being actively developed and released concurrently, with the community giving instant feedback which is fed back into the development. It’s a living product and as such, some things just won’t work as imagined when released into the wild. Luckily they can be adjusted and fine tuned as problems and conflicts surface.
It’s messier and in some ways less efficient but it seems to be the way the industry is shifting, especially in the f2p market

I had described about this grenade/explosive meta in this topic.
It is really ridiculous to see explosive flying up to 70m and grenade to 100m.
It requires almost no skill to do so.
So people demand the nerf of such perk, or for explosives themselves.
BUT, we must also consider one positive effect of this grenadier make-up of squads. It actually makes the end game battle being somehow a bit fair, for instance: solved the issue of m2 carbine as grenades would cover people until reaching the optimal range for m2. Or else, m2 team would be really useless when combating fg42 in mid range.
So, I hope developers can treat this issue seriously. Most end game players hate this grenade meta, but for many reasons, they have already invested much silver orders on building these squads based on it. Please don’t hurt the end game players by too much when fixing the problem.
You speak here like a crown, crying for not losing your 0 skill crutch. Ohhhhhh nooo you cannot nerf TNT and that perk I spend too many silverssssssss nooooooooo
listen, I am speaking with extreme objectivity here. If u dare to check the link I put in my reply to keofox, then u will see it was me months ago saying there is an issue with the grenade/explosive perk. POOH.
What about the bloom slider and the lighting ?
but did you fix concussion being unstopped by walls or various other objects?
I think small explosions such as grenades or far explosions should only result in slight ringing, not full blur
Hello, when will the next season start? I’ve been playing since the first test
Hello, although it is a test, there are many improvements in each update, and I will always support you
Newcomer mission: what is capybara
since you guys wont remove it, i can honestly say its far better now than when stalingrad was introduced.
still hate it tho.
Hello. My name is Steven. First time poster. Long term game coder. So I know a bit about balance.
Fundamentally, do incremental balance changes. Nothing major (unless something is broken). A single number from 9 to 10 might be enough. Nothing wild unless it’s OP. Nerfs should be pretty major to get things under control.
I noticed the nerf on Morta. Probably about the right amount to bring it back from those youtube vids I watched. But the amount it’s nerfed seems a bit overkill. I Loathed getting 50 kills with it when the radio operator can get 50 kills in a match or 2 easy with even a 4 minute Cooldown. Took me about 12 matches. So even if you double it’s damage and radius, it’s still like 3-4 matches to get 50 kills.
The problem in my books is the lazy play. Just make it HORRIBLY inaccurate at long range. Make it a shot gun version of artillery. If you are within 50m, you can land things perfect, but it’s dangerous. But anything over 100m and you are missing by about 20m. Anything over 150 and you miss by 50m. 250m and you miss by 100m. Something like that.
But buff the damage they do so we aren’t just wounding. Start with 25% more damage. And increase the inaccuracy by about 50%. It might be pretty close to perfect. If that’s too big of a jump, make it 15% and 25%. Almost no noticeable difference. But the smaller you go in the changes, the more frequent you need to change them to be able to get close to balanced.
Also don’t kill the meta. Just bring everything up close to it.
Grease gun sucks compared to the MP40. You should up the accuracy if it’s not shooting as fast. Or you should make all movement with it about 10% faster than the MP40. Or something. Allies tends to get owned on Normandy and I believe it’s because people hate the grease gun. They all seem to be sitting back and using rifles. And this game tends to be all about charging in. And when I’m the only one charging in, it gets tiresome getting owned because I’m a lone target in a sea of enemy.
So yeah, incrementally buff the teams that lose a lot. Swapping the roles around on maps will allow you to see if it’s the map or the weapons which are out of balance. If you swap them around and suddenly Allies are owning, then adjust the spawn points or out of bounds by 10% distance to control point. If Allies still get owned, buff some of the weapons by 10% or so until they start getting more even amount of wins.
When it’s 75% wins for Axis and 25% for Allies, there’s something wrong.
so?
Wait for first BAR.
Worst necro ever
Ok, Steven… I mean who gives a [edited] about your name. However how about this. Learn how to play this game and stop using magic skill issue button to get kills.
Actually after reading the rest of your post just quit playing the game.
Nice necro btw.
lol
honestly
quite impressive
