The currently proposed system means there is no balanced mid tier where people can play stronger but not sweaty stuff, because instead of letting BR 3 be its own tier, it simply doesn’t exist as a matchmaking tier and will only bring imbalance to lower tiers or cannon fodder to higher.
----> remove the current BR 3 mechanism and instead use:
BR 3 becomes its own mm tier, so whenever there are enough people having BR 3 armies, they will play against each other.
Whenever there are surplus people searching for a game, you can put them into BR 2 or BR 4 games; NOT BR 1 or BR 5 as currently proposed.
----> more balanced, smoother and more interesting game play, especially for new players.
I’m honestly not that worried about BR 3 being an issue
You mentioned placing br3 players in br2 or br4 games, but in fact, there is no such queue. As far as I know, the br match system only includes 2 queues: br123 and br345. Placing players in the br2 queue is no different from placing them in the br1 queue, as they are both in the br123 queue. Darkflow’s announcement also did not say that br5 will prioritize matching with br5.
Now br3 can play most maps and has an advantage over br12. Some players can maliciously take advantage of this, they can establishing a br3 queue and use tanks to farm br12 players. If they match into the battle of the br345, they will immediately desert because there is no substantial punishment for deserting. This will ensure that they can only play br123 games and keep farming beginners.
Moreover, this will also affect the number of br4 players. br4 players will only match into br345 games, while they are at a disadvantage when facing br5 players, while br3 players have all deserted. Therefore, for their own gaming experience(and exp profits), br4 players tend to continue slaughtering beginners in br3 instead of use br4 queue to play with br5 players. This leads to the situation that this game only has two rooms, one with a large number of players from br3 slaughtering beginners, and the other with players from br5 wielding automatic weapons and high-intensity shooting. This environment would clearly be a disaster.
