the developers just release updates with absolutely zero warning as to what is about to happen and they ALWAYS introduce it half assed. The updates are never thought out and many things are left simply forgotten about. This has become an increasing issue with each update. Depending on how the weapons “improvement” goes I very well maybe right behind you out the door
Thing is…
Thoe exploits are all game features. These issues are mentioned for weeks or even months now (long before CBs were introduced) and they gave a crap.
They either have to fix their game (and well according to them their game is fine) or reduce the xp earning a lot.
The fuck are you talking about? Do you realize, that without whales and people buying stuff this game wouldn’t even exist anymore? I’m actually grateful for them, that i don’t have to give my own money for a greedy company like snail, just to keep the game alive.
Nah, exploits aren’t features, and there’s no argument that in a game that’s not about exploits to say they are. I agree that it’s not unreasonable to think the devs should have seen it coming, we gave them all the information they needed in order to see it.
In this post, I wasn’t accusing anyone, and wasn’t justifying the devs actions or outlook. Just spelling out that I believe their outlook and probable course of action to be.
IMO maps are features. Ver-su/ all beach-landing maps are supposed to be AIDS for attackers. Since DF refuses to fix their maps I guess they are working as intended therefor the Ver-su is supposed to be a defender heaven.
But anyway… All that mess just cause some retards fast-grinded the campaigns with methods which we all used (long) before CBs? Its just “weird” framing/ penalize people for sth. which was legal/ okay for DF against players/ squad-mode in the past/ DF refused to fix (I mean according to them their mechanics are not even broken but fine, though good mechanics shouldnt be that easy to exploit… logic I guess). On the other hand it was the first exploit where no one was butt-fucked as the victims of the exploit matches were AI soldiers.
At least they should release a list or sth. which contains all things which counts as (bad) exploits.
I think the pressure to release new content in our current gaming climate, is the problem.
Look at AAA games that launch half finished. People lose interest really fast, it’s more an indictment of the modern world then a developer’s competency.
Since it is really hard to level up in this game, and it has completely separate lines, I thought the devs introduce CBs to help new players get through their early stages, which is a reasonable idea in the current situation. But I did feel like it was too good to be true so I expected that they may cut the gain a little bit later.
However I was completely wrong, they never thought about such obvious issues at all before releasing the updates, so they regret it quickly. The worse thing is, they shift the blame on players and arrogantly claim that all players getting a lots of XP are exploiters and bug-abusers, then punish them. Such arrogance completely destroys their credits, even there wasn’t that much left before. (“Dismissing soldiers to get bronze orders”, well…)
I may not completely quit the game but I will definitely stop playing for a while, and I don’t feel safe to give my money to them any more. It was a fun game with innovative designs, even there are so many flaws in gaming, AI and economics mechanics, but the devs are just too incapable to run it.
First of all, the reference is the video posted. There is nothing artificial in the video.
Second, you’re claiming we are to believe there is no possibility the devs did a wrong and we have to begin with the initial assertion that anyone banned was doing the “wrong thing”`, whatever that is? I don’t know how to put this politely, but it appears you don’t have a lot of experience on how handling of exploit situations usually go in multiplayer online games - collateral damage does happen.
Autoclicker, mouse macro, baby brother, pet hamster, whatever. There is no practical difference. If there is a set of parameters in a game that grants quick progression without any skill and just a repetitive exercise, the fault lies solely in the developer. I do not authorize or condone any external software that grants any advantage, I am just using the notion of an autoclicker as a comparison for the absurdity that is the stomping bots match. The only redeeming notion for the developers would be if it actually was the case that they did go and assess every single match, whether deliberate gaming of the friendly team AI was taking place. I tend to believe the thread starter and do not believe it is reasonable for him to provide evidence of every match he has played in that time, but the contrary.
Unless someone gives evidence that credit card (etc) transactions were also rolled back in that time period, I believe only that they may have refunded gold. Which is all swell, because then the company has already gotten the monies! The transactions should be refunded as well. While writing this I notice that this guilty by default thing really makes things easy and I am happy to have it on my side by making assertions like this, it would be so easy to be a judge in a dictatorship!
Finally, on the absolute absurdity of the situation. There are a number of defects one would not assume to happen when we are actually paying real money to play a game.
The possibility to consistently and easily block friendly AI with (apparently, I never tried) building defensive structures is completely unacceptable. As players we rely on friendly AI to balance against human players.
The notion that one human squad can easily control a game against ten AI squads is also ludicrous. The sole player should be annihilated if he goes without the support of the team.
But did you notice: If you give the thread starter’s videos any credit, it’s quite possible to just farm bots without blocking one’s own team, with pretty good efficiency. The straw that apparently broke camel’s back is that there was artificial extension of match time, because this is so prominently featured in the developer commentary. So, what is the advantage of this arrangement when one could just play several farming games instead? Well, XP boosters which are paid for real money only apply to a single match.
I bet there were a lot of gold sales happening due to the bug where people purchased enough to claim a big bonus for their battlepass progress. I will change my mind once someone shows that gold purchases with real money equivalents have also been rolled back. Most would not have bought that gold unless they could’ve put the boosters into “good” use, I am certain.
No, I didn’t. My opinion on this has shifted drastically since the 27th, because as you said I don’t have a lot of experience with this. I’ve never been involved in a MOG at the time when something like this occurred before. I did my best to lay out facts, supported either by data (which is scarce) or logic, and could be wrong.
I don’t know how a PC games developer would engineer out the ability to use third party software to automate parts of their game, but if they detected such and took issue with it, they’ve protected whatever action they decide to take legally. I offer this information without my attached opinion.
Whether we believe him or not (I don’t have an opinion to share) or that requirement is reasonable or not (it obviously isn’t) is pretty irrelevant. I wasn’t suggesting that the way things are is the way things should be, just laying it all out.
These are really good questions, and ones we really haven’t received satisfactory answers to, yet, and may not get. If I understand correctly, artificially extending the match times would lead to ridiculous increases in base experience earned per game. We don’t have solid information on if or how session runtime is used in experience calculation. While the paid repeatable XP boosters were probably used heavily with this practice, and because they multiply base xp would have led to even more ridiculous results, because they haven’t been removed from repeatable levels and we haven’t been warned against such stacking in PVP environments, my bet is that the mechanic is working as intended and the company is happy to take our money there.
It is a free to play shooter and those games are very expensive…
Or enraging…
I stopped investing because I knew that they will slowly but steedy increase grind.
The will (and have already) introduce RIDICULOUS high prices for premium troops. Just to offer amazing sales of 75%.
They are not interested in playerbase. They are interested in whales.
This video is in german but it summarizes it well.
