Testing the "Hidden Threat" update

Thats an issue for sure, unless you have big post pen damage like Soviets, a solid AP shot will probably not kill anyone inside that tank ever

Thinking about this- Crusader can pen Stug III G easily right? Maybe I am overreacting.

I was empathizing with you as we both are not exactly enthralled by this br change

It used to be way worse when all of its armor was still buffed because devs got the armor wrong. So even the little slope could stop the APHE (before HEAT was made universal) back in moscow.

Yeah don’t forget heat was also buffed this update to be made more consistent. You know the shell that’s mostly known for its usage by German short 75 in enlisted

I simply remember that STUG III G back in the Normandy campaign had a different damage model, I have never frontally been killed by any Jumbo I have encountered ever, they changed how easy it is to penetrate STUG III G with the merge.

That however is more of a gut feeling experience of mine, I play too rarely other factions than Germany to have a true opinion about this matter - being on the receiving end of a STUG G is actually something I have never had to overcome.

I suspect that it isnt hard to kill STUG III G with T34 and KV1 because I die to them quite often - but again I fear for tanks with bad post pen damage.

Should be able too. It has 100mm of pen and I dont think you can angle your stug very much so the 80mm of armor should hardly improve by doing that.

I wouldn’t call this buffed, heat was kinda shitty for quite some time now.

But keep in mind that back in normandy the shermans where stuck with M 72 instead that only had 90mm of pen but now they have M 62 with 100mm so pre merge it was way more tanky comapatively.

Well STUG G has 80mm of armor, I am telling you STUG was frontally immortal against Shermans, even though this made no sense.

To be fair, I also remember how T34 85 couldn’t penetrate my 60mm sloped Jagdpanzer IV L48 back during campaigns.

Stats didn’t change, but I definitely remember some tanks being much much harder to kill.

KV1 was a glass canon when Stalingrad was first introduced. Dont know why.

The texture loss bug of the amoeba helmet cover is nearly half a year old by this point…

Has this been fixed on the dev server? @Euthymia07-live

Yes
But BR 1 tanks can also easily pen it in the mantlet:

checked it at 230m distance, which is way higher than most enlisted engagements

Hm, who is behind that gun mantlet- if the gunner can be taken out easily I guess I call this BR reduction a “let me test it before I form an opinion”.

The gunner is
if you shoot a bit below you can also destroy the transmission
and since it’s a TD it’s over for the stug at that point

That’s not a typical br 1 tank. That’s a premium/event with p2w ammo. Apcbc.

Wanna say m5a1 rhino.

I will test this out extensively, I own 2 legacy squads with STUGs, so I will be able to bring 3 Stugs into my BR2 matches.

My gut feeling tells me it would have been better to give STUG A HEAT C rounds and removing regular AP and lowering smoke rounds so that it could have plenty of AT and anti infantry power - as a more support fire premium alternative to STUG III F.

Stug III G could have gotten a coax MG ( which later versions actually had) and stayed in BR3 as a more armored alternative to later Panzer IV.

You are right that it can be taken out by all enemies - but pixel hunting is never fun.

The other BR1 tanks also have 50mm of pen, no?

There’s a big difference between theoretical pen and actual pen.

True that. That being said, there are many many more vehicles that are frontally almost immortal to many lower BR vehicles like Panther, KV1, Jagdpanzer IV L70, Jumbo, not to mention Panzer III M having almost the same armor as Stug III G.

Except the stug armor is also a big problem in its own br. And has an overwhelming cannon even in uptiers. Oh and is a premium
