Terni 1921 MAF "assault rifle" in testing : r/ForgottenWeapons
The Terni Model 1921 rifle was developed as an offshoot of the Italian submachine gun program that began during World War I and continued into the early 1920s. The Italian Army had adopted the Beretta M1918 submachine gun but felt that its ballistic performance was poor, owing to the underpowered 9mm Glisenti cartridge that it was chambered for. Therefore, a more powerful intermediate cartridge was sought and the state arsenals at Terni and Rome were commissioned to develop it, along with rifles to fire it.

Terni’s prototype rifle was completed in 1920 and was chambered for a proprietary 7.35×32mm cartridge. 200 models were submitted to the Italian Test Commission for trials from March to May that year, and the results were promising. It was forwarded for further testing in 1923, competing against Rome’s prototype, chambered for a reduced-load 6.5mm cartridge, and three submachine guns: the FIAT, the Ansaldo Crocetti, and the Beretta. Of the five weapons trialed, the Terni rifle was considered to be the best and it was granted more funding for further development.
The Italian Terni Model 1921 was an intermediate cartridge "assault rifle", thay used a feed system similar to the Revelli Machine gun : r/ForgottenWeapons
In 1928, an improved model was completed, known as the Mod.1921/28. This was slated for testing but the project exceeded its budget and Terni were unable to secure further funding from the government to continue developing it, as the costs of adopting an entirely new cartridge would have been substantial and ultimately there was no immediate requirement for it. The project was therefore cancelled.[1]

Design Details

The Terni Mod.21 was a recoil-operated automatic rifle built around the Carcano M.91. It featured a selective-fire function and fed from horizontally staggered clips in a feed mechanism derived from the FIAT-Revelli M1914 machine gun. Prototypes were also made that fed from a detachable box magazine.

Ammunition

The Model 1921 was chambered for the experimental 7.35×32mm cartridge. The cartridge had a velocity of 2,000 feet per second (610 metres per second)[2] and had case base dimensions similar to that of the 6.5×52mm Carcano cartridge.[[1]]

The gun looks like no matter what it fits at br2 that is its ammo looks like it would be comparable to the M1 and M2 carbine. The removable mag looks easily 15 or under rounds like the M1 carbine. The 25-round model is stripper clip fed meaning it would be slow to reload. only 200 feels like a good bp or event gun or even premium though wheeraboo would call it perfect for tech tree lol.
