Tanks dmg model

coming from warthunder these tanks dmg models are the worst I have ever seen, I can’t even find a way to describe how inconstant the dmg model is for tanks, like can’t you just copy paste the dmg model from warthunder into this game since you own the code? and this also goes for explosive packs and grenades. whenever I through a explosive pack UNDER a tank which is the thinnest armor on any tank I am lucky if I turn a track or wheel yellow, but when others throw their packs under my tank I just get turned into a pile of scrap metal. and I fail to see why the 20mm auto cannon’s HE shell for the german tank in the moscow campaign does more AEO dmg then the 37mm cannon on the M5a1, if it is a historical thing when it comes to the explosive filler in the shell I really think it should be changed as I can shoot at the feet of an enemy and they wont die, or if they are up against a wall and I shoot at the wall 2in above their head they only take a little bit of dmg, gameplay wise this needs to be upped as I might as well use AP shells to kill enemies when I am unable to use the machine gun.

there is no situation where a tank survives a det pack under the tank you are lying or you are lagging

unless it’s a Puma, the damage model on that one has been broken since day 1.
Though normally a detpack under it kills 1 crew member and nothing else.

I haven’t really found the HE in the 20mm or 37mm caliber to be any better than ap rounds really. I kinda wish they would just let you take pure AP belts for the 20mm tanks since you might as well just be using it the whole time anyway. The 45mm on the other hand, seems quite useful.

As for the damage model overall, they seem decent with a few outliers being the puma and occassionally m5a1. Maybe not as perfect of a model as Warthunder but its still better than pretty much any other game that uses a hp based system.

Also if you haven’t noticed yet, the game will actually show you if your shot can pen by turning your reticle green when you hover over the enemy tank.

Even the HE from the Puma is anemic.

I think whats happened is they’ve given the modules way more health than WT, giving them a sponge like feeling when you pump round after round into them and still only get yellow crew. Even the ammo racks seems very resilient at times, you can drive a shell through those and they still dont always go off.

Yeah I noticed that too. Turret rings seem to be the only things I can crit reliably.

coming from bug thunder first you need is to not advice introducing here some shit from bug thunder. enlisted’s models are more realistic and as in reality you can’t just kill crew shooting with your 75mm pistol at enemy’s sherman/panther. with this system seeking weakspots and getting bigger calibers have some meaning unlike WT which gives tiger with 64gram of explosives power that reaches 100-130mm calibers

No, lol. War Thunder has more realistic damage models. Still not quite realistic, as in real life, tanks died even more easily as in War Thunder. Also, no clue what you mean with “75mm pistol”, but a 75mm APHE round detonating inside of a tank acts like a literal grenade, killing most if not all crew in a single hit.

boi. what you can tell me about reality? you know what tiger’s 64 gram of explosives did in sherman? you know? they killed up to 3 tankers per shot. there was one moment when tiger did 2 shots which killed driver and damaged other members. also sherman’s explosives could leave stug 40 alive after 4-5 hits. and soviet APHE had such bad fuse that 122mm shell could hit screen of panzer 4, explode and do no damage to tank itself. pleers don’t do any explorations so you don’t know how far shittunder gone from reality at literally anything including flight models. and suffix “YT” probably tells that you treat yourself as a great librarian while you’re not

If your only method of answering people is as toxic as this, I won’t even bother giving any further replies. If you think that’s the truth, have fun with it. I have done enough research with primary and secondary sources to know it is not.

if you haven’t any proofs about your drivel, then you may don’t answer at all, not hiding at back of rules or something. the only fact i red about explosives’ action and you didn’t. WT pleers often think that their trash game is golden standard for simulators

You might think so but it really isn’t - there’s very little component damage at all - you simply do not get engine hits (or not very often) - you can hit the engine compartment of anything dead side on with plenty of penetration and get a yellow engine.

You can hit track components with 76mm and get mid-red at best - eg straight on hit on a PIV drive sprocket which would be a detrack in WT won’t get you that here.

You’d think that importing the tank modelling (including damage, penetration, etc) from WT should be pretty independant and give good results - but it never has.

The model is the same, doesnt mean the values are.

I suppose it mostly is, but there is no overpressure or hullbreak helping against light vehicles, on top of the borked damage or health values.
