Tanks choice

Hello all,

I’m looking for your advice on Allied tanks at BR 5. I don’t have this issue with Germany or the Soviets (and I’m not yet at BR 5 with the Japanese).

For Germany, I chose the Tiger II H — it can do everything. For the Soviets, I have two tanks: the premium KV-2 because I love shooting at infantry, and the IS-1, since its faster reload compensates for the slow reload of the KV-2.

For the Allies, I’ll also run two tanks, with one focused on infantry. I haven’t finished the tech tree yet; for now, I use the M4A3 105 mm and the M6A2E1.

I’m interested in the M4A3E2 76 mm, which has great armor, and the T26E1.

Do you have any advice?

M4A3E2 76 can barely do anything against german Tiger II H or Japanese Ho-Ri from the front.

It has strong armor on paper but this is not enough to block shots from the two aformentioned tanks. And it gets some of the weakest side armor at BR5 with only 38mm on the lower side.

T26E-1 is mostly similar to Tiger II H, great frontal armor, they kill eachother by aiming at their respective turret cheaks. The downside is that the super pershing has a longer reload compared to the Tiger II H (around 10s instead of 7), and its additionnal armor can be removed if it suffered enough hit (I think it was mentioned by helpers, but I have never witnessed it myself). Also against Ho-Ri you will need APCR as the APHE is not enough.

T26 is good enough while the 76 jumbo certainly isn’t

my go to BRV are usually airplanes.
not tanks.

but, the Pershing or super pershing are decent, even if the reloads is a bit daunting compared to most other tanks.

if instead you want to focus on infantry, the sherman calliope / M36s have decent HEs overall.

but that works for me, and i always tend to flank rather than brute force my way in a narrow street towards the objective.

… with that being said, bombs don’t have many of these issues.

I would recommend using the normal Pershing as it has faster reload and stronger HE than the Tiger II, while still being able to penetrate the turret with APCR shells.
If you have experience fighting the Tiger II than Pershing is a better choice than the Superpershing.

I must add that if you are unexperienced than Superpershing has better survivability and so mistakes are less punishing with it not to mention that it is easier to destroy a Tiger II with it too.
