I guess tankers have some back end classification that makes them the same class as assaulters or something so they can carry SMG’s - but the Pederson device is a 1903 Springfield Rifle and unlikely to be carried by a tanker even if it had been available!!
Please stop it being available to tankers.

Lol that’s pretty neat actually. Sometimes I wish they could carry shotguns

Didn’t know that, agreed, actually I think they ought to set the Pederson as a ‘Rifle’ rather than as an ‘Assault Weapon,’ which I hate that they use that term because it has no real legitimacy in the world of firearms and is only a political buzzword used by anti-gun politicians who try to make up fictional definitions to define an ‘assault weapon’ which is entirely different from any firearm classifications or definition I’ve ever heard of. It’s almost like… they have no idea what they’re talking about. I digress, yes it’s comical for a tanker to use a Pederson or M1903.
The issue is size. A tanker could carry a shotgun, if there were shotguns that were small enough that they wouldn’t overly encumber a tanker who needs to climb into or out of their tank, possibly in a hurry. That’s why the M3 “Grease Gun,” initially, was specifically sent to tankers early on at least to my understanding. Stock can collapse making it MUCH more compact than other US smallarms, M1 Carbine has an 18" barrel which is only half a foot shorter than the M1 Garand’s or M1903’s. They were basically stuck with M1911A1 pistols, which aren’t NEARLY as effective in combat as the M3 or basically any shoulder-fired weapon.
So, since there weren’t small-sized shotguns readily available, tankers didn’t tend to be issued any. A sawed-off shotgun with no stock and short barrels could be made compact, but come on… how much better would that be than an M1911A1 pistol? Less than one-third the capacity and a far slower reload, also with slower follow-up shots unless you fire both barrels at once which sounds rather painful when firing it as a handgun.
Nah, given that only stocked shotguns are available (and in my experience they’re just not very good in general even with my fully maxed-out one I lucked into from a random weapons drop. Tried it a couple times at the airfield, including several shots fired at an open doorway where a squad was moving around near, I wounded one or two and got killed. That’s the best I’ve been able to do with a shotty, they seem rather useless. If other long-arms are given that ‘zoom’ effect when aiming, including SMGs, I think shotguns should get it too. VERY hard to see the enemy, it’s like shotgunners were given shotguns because they failed their eye exams. As for pistols, fair enough, unless the user is Hickok45 they’re not really meant for precision or long-range shooting anyways.
