Tanker squads should have the ability to call for artillery

Tanks and other armoured vehicles always have radios connected. Maybe require a radio operator but it just makes sense to add it.

Yes, this would be a good idea, many tanks had radios, but many people complain about the radio function already (not me), so this would just make some mad. I would like the ability to call in arty wherever I need support when I can’t count on teammates though.

I dislike the idea as tanks squads are already able to deal game changing damage and, at times, completely control a match. Why do they need more?

Radio operator squads camping in the greyzone is already a big problem.

Tanks camping in the greyzone is an even bigger problem.

You know what would be great? Letting them do both at the same time and becoming the BIGGEST problem!

Sarcasm aside, this is a really bad idea.

It would be enough if you could set a target for artillery in the gray zone. And in this way, get the opportunity to eliminate enemy fire points or vehicles.

Only if it would be limited to smoke artillery, but then they would release premium tanks squads that could call in airstrikes so maybe not a good idea

Maybe have the artillery limited to a circle 50-80 meters in diameter centered on the tank, anything targeted outside would be out of range as gray zone does now. Tanks would have to be in the shit to use it

Tanks already have access to smoke grenades and smoke shells, which when used correctly will already cover this as well if not better than artillery smoke.

Considering you should be pushing up to that range anyways, I’d say it would have to be even shorter than that and require line of sight to the target.

The true American tank

Question . Is Enlisted a realistic war 2 game ?
With historical weapons carateritics ?

Not a relevant argument in this discussion whatsoever.

Lol you respect all carateristics of weapons for infantery …but for tankers not ?

May radio in every squad is a problem
But you can’t take the tankers out of a radio to compensate

Correct.

Why not have airplanes capable of dropping nuclear bombs if your logic is useful?

'Cause we’re playing a fps game with strategy and not vice versa
Cause nuclear bombing means end of FPS
Cause nuclear bombing means end of war for some axis country ?

Before going to the end of logic in 1945 just begin by logic in 1939 and radio and tanks …lmao

Cause your irealitic idea will be be refuse we should refuse another idea less irealitic ?

I have a better idea.
Radiomen at tanks are for receiving information from ground troops .
So, calling destroyable reconaissence planes that show the enemy for 10 secnds at the pointed area for every 5 minutes is suitable.

No, they shouldn’t. Calling for artillery strikes is a specific skill which is why artillery officers were embedded with infantry units. Tank crew would not be trained in how to call in artillery strikes. After all, call them in to the wrong grid coordinates and you’ll kill your own troops.

So tankers are unabled to read a map and estimate a distance for you ?
So radio is for listen music ?

Light, Medium tanks and SPAAs can call artillery in warthunder.

I wouldn’t be so strongly opposed to something similar.
But there has to be something that makes radio operators and tank radio operators have something of their own.

Basically, as others pointed out, giving artillery calling capability to tanks basically makes radio operators obsolete, aside from maybe bomber strike calling capability…

Sure they can read a map, but spotting artillery requires training. It’s not just: “hey arty boys, shell that area about a kilometer from hilltop 334”.

Radios in tanks are primarily for command and control, i.e. coordination among other tanks and with commanders . . . and, of course, if you can get a good pirate radio station, then jam some tunes.

You prefer give tanks a radio or give to tanks real abilities
