One of many reasons why I give all of my tankers and pilots an SMG, backpack, and medkit.
I’ve made it back to the playable area from crash landings in Moscow and Tunisia, and have seen it done in Normandy

It may be good as an attacker not to waste tickets but as defender it is better to suicide and go with new squad.

Why do you need it for a pilot? Can you land a plane somewhere? Or are there parachutes that I am not aware of
Like I said, I’ve done it on 2 of the campaigns and have seen it done on a third.
Tunisia is very easy to survive crash landings on, it’s just a matter of being close enough to get back.
Moscow sometimes by freak chance you survive, and might be able to get back, which has happened to me.
Normandy is a mix of both where you have some of the favorable terrain, but not as much as Tunisia.

wait how do you survive crash landing? jump off plane when it is close to ground?
You can land the plane without it exploding if you land at a smooth angle without hitting something.
Or sometimes on Moscow you just ram into a tree and somehow your plane doesn’t explode. But it happens surprisingly often there.
