Tank crew need update ideas

Some ideas for tank crew :

Machine gunner should use his gun. Making his seat usable would be a huge thing, but also making the bot fire the mg. Not accurately, we don’t need it to be overpower but it should return fire at something. Could be ordered to open fire and to hold fire. But seat need to be available to use mg.
Ordering bot driver to go forward / back , faster / slower. Letting him drive automatically, specially backward, I know i can use something like that. I just can’t drive back in a straight line loll, i always just go left / right.
Making tank crew sit at their designed place when all out and back in. It just should be. My tankers all got specific perk for their specific job, and to do so they’ll need their specific seat. I just don’t know why it isn’t already done.
Ordering someone to go outside making quick repair while you stay inside and fight. Choosing exactly who goes out, and ordering him to take cover on front / back / left / right side, just to give him a chance to survive.
Order commander to use mg outside tank while you use another seat. Firing on two different direction could be something wild, even more if machine gunner get in making 3 loll. Still don’t want it to be overpower so not too much accuracy, just some return fire to keep enemy team heads down.
A new quick chat : Help tank! So many times I’ve been climbed on and use as cover by enemy loll. Just a new quick chat to let my team know i need assistance can help.

AI controlled MGs could be interesting, especially because some tanks like IS and KV have a MG at the back of their turrets.

Or even the T28 having separate MG turrets…

Now that I think of it, there are quite a number of early war tanks with multiple / separate turrets. the M 3 also has one hu?

TANK UPDATE

Since HE is not that great in a lot of tanks, maybe a new perk: HE double damage & double splash size (kill area).

Tank mines that can be placed ON your tank (like an AP mine) that can be set off automatically or manually from inside the tank to remove enemies from the tank.

Get rid of the “bouncy red circle” as part of the aiming mechanism. It’s unnecessary and completely annoying. Or, another perk to get rid of it such as " improved optics."

Boost the speed of all tanks by at least 25%. They’re just way too slow. Also boost the turret turn rate for all tanks by 15 to 20%. Or, give us another perk such as “improved fuel” to obtain the same results.

Allow tanks to carry ammunition boxes or medic boxes on the back of the tank for all to use. Not very many engineers (or medics) place these boxes for use, so having them on tanks would be helpful.

Allow other players to jump in your tank to help when your tankers get killed; however, allow the tank owner to turn this feature on and off since some people may not like it.

If the enemies tank crew gets killed, give us the option of stealing the enemy tank to use instead of blowing it up.

Allow players to jump onto friendly tanks to catch a ride to eliminate stamina drain, especially on larger maps which require a lot of running.

This is more likely to be an upgrade of tank instead of crew perk, if there is another stronger HE round, multifunctional HEAT rounds, or HESH rounds available at this calibre for that nation to use (I also heard something like some American tankers modified their cannon breech to fit German shell at similar calibre when fighting in Europe, but I have not found reliable source), otherwise this may not be a good idea, because HE damage mechanism is in fact quite sophisticate, there is a lot of parameters like direct hit damage, shrapnel amount, single shrapnel damage, explosive filler, and penetration.

That’s already the case for some tanks. The hull mg shoots automatically by AI.

? Since when?

Only japanese tanks have hull mgs and from what I know those are player controled. Something has changed since the last time I checked?

I don’t have the game opened but the latest added US TD has a hull mg shooting automatically by AI.

I can agree with all of these, though you may just want to check your controls in terms of driving forward and backwards, I seem to have no issue.

HE in most tanks is actually pretty good, you just have to know where to land it. I’m guessing that you have only used small tanks so far. Caliber of the shell effects splash range and damage of the HE. If there were any change to be made to it, perhaps the bounce angle could be tweaked. You need to be able to use HE in more situations than just firing into a building.

Are you talking about the overheat meter? If so, I’m fairly certain there is an option to toggle it on and off. Personally I think that is a needed feature.

Tanks are absolute power houses already. You can level them up and get upgrades for exactly what you are asking for. This does not need to be increased further.

Interesting idea, but what determines what resets them? Plus, when you take hits from nearby explosions, its likely to trip them anyway.

I’m not opposed to this necessarily, but I do think that taking away other classes special ability and giving it to tanks may not be the right direction.
However, I would not be opposed to a slot on it being an option, that engineers and medics can place their structures on. Just not the tankers able to have it themselves.

No. Otherwise you will have the exact problem that Battlefield has: they take the tank then sit in their greyzone, not only increasing their firepower but making it significantly harder to kill as tanks are often needed to kill other tanks.

There is nothing stopping you from jumping onto the back of a friendly tank as it is currently, I do it a lot myself actually. Perhaps adding “seating” so you can group up your squad on it?

Wait, i thought that was a bug? I noticed some shots comming from my tank recently, but i was pretty sure it was just bugged out soldiers shooting with their primaries or something…

If you are right, how come there has never been any patch notes about this?

@VoyoMayPL No is a bug, your machinegunner fire his smg from the inside of the tank, it can be replicated on every tank with the machinegunner slot not linked to a player controlled MG

(Add sarcastic joke about alpha tester dont know game bug and promoting them as feature :wink:)

I am well aware of both situations.
The M18 GMC has a workable hull MG gunner. Has been 1 month since I used it but it automatically shot when I was the commander.
Second situation you are mentioning, i am well aware of too. I am not new to the game LMAO.
