The T26E2 was a late war attempt to make a similar vechile as the m4(105) but on the much stronger and much more well armored pershing hull

Very little was changed from this tank and the pershing the only real difference is the gun mantlet and turret face on the M45 were up armored the mantlet was thickened from 4.5 inches (114 mm) to 8 inches (203 mm). The turret face was also thickened from 4 inches (101 mm) to 5 inches (127 mm), as was the armor on the side of the turret, which was increased from 3 inches (76 mm) to 5 inches (127 mm) as well as the gun being equipped with a vertical stabilizer
