currently there are sort of low forward jab and club, but I find that it can be very difficult to land a strike at close range. I’m not sure if this is due to some dynamic I am not aware of. Lots of time it is not difficult at all to get a kill, usually when the unit is already hurt. However I find when jumping into an enemy or group of enemies, the swing happens but no strike is registered.
I am wondering if this is because of some default physics on direction of attack with the melee weapon. However if you could somehow influence what direction a melee weapon went while standing stationary this may fix this issue.
Again perhaps it is latency. However it happens quite a bit that you do a melee attack and it isn’t even a graze or week attack.
If there was some way of knowing why an attack didn’t register, to far, some type of miss calculation based on melee combat skill if there is any.
I’ve seen these directional melee attacks in other games. While there does appear to be a jab, strike, club based on body position, ground/crouch/kneel. I’m not sure if the attack dynamic changes at all. I am geussing all attacks will occur directly the direction facing as opposed to be able to look one direction and move a melee attack along a different path for example to the left or to the right.
Perhaps the programming dynamic would be complex however as said I’ve seen this in other games, and if this does exist I am not aware of it but have seen a few different graphics for attacks but all melee attacks seem to be front facing. I think it would add melee combat dynamic to allow directional attacks from front facing to a different direction.
