Suppressive Fire

It shouldnt’ be 3-5 seconds in the game - it might be that IRL from a single shot - IMO in game it should be no more than a flinch down that loses your sight picture and does nothing else.

I have never seen that.

AI soldiers should certainly have kind of “suppresion” effect on them. Something like: find a cover and sit there untill shooting stops instead of trying to shoot at MG (or whatever is shooting at you).
As for players it’s a bit problematic. I would like to see automatic fire affecting them in some way, but for some reason some players (especially snipers) don’t like when they are pinned down and they can’t one shot you in 1s.

Well Josephs, have you ever tried this !
Sounds cool and works for Rambo, but thats it
have you ever fired a MG 42 at 1200-1500 Rpm from your shoulder? The Barrel guard is insanly hot, so how the hell are you going to hold it? A burst or two?
Mate that thing pumps out about 25 rounds per sec!! And there is a thing called recoil…

Yes. no thanks.

Yeah rumour says the allies are still struggling to land at omaha beach due to excessive panic because of LMG’s.

It was part of training especiatly for wehrmacht to be able to fire on all positions & on move.

Oh the good ol BF3, Pecheneg spray suppression > no visual recoil but instead random recoil on bullets > only way to counter anyone who missed you first was lucky shot with m26 darts so super fun that I haven touched to single EA game ever since.

How about suppresion that kicks in after some time? So for example you have to be under fire for let’s say 3s to start being suppressed. It doesn’t have logical sense but for the game purpose it may work.

So… Until now I just sucked with my one shot rifles because tenth of the playerbase runs and hipfires while jumping sideways with their LMGs.

Now on top of that I should get some suppression as well? I would much more enjoy that if someone uses a machine gun without bipod will get concussed for a second. And if he hipfires during a jump, get slammed into the wall behind him. I don’t believe these bullets have zero kickback. Or however that force is called in English.

Let’s get rid of all the stupid motions, crazy firing positions before introducing something that puts new players in a worse position than where they are already.

It might just be tank MGs for some reason, but I see it a lot.

But isn’t it caused by player going prone?

That’s my opinion about this:

Honestly I don’t know those weapons much yet, so can’t add to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not hipfiring MGs what I have problems actually with. But with guys turning lightning quick, jumping left and right or out from second level window with a 12 kg weapon in hand, then 0.5 sec after touchdown way too precisely shooting without aiming much.

Hit the ground, need to pull up yourself in 5 seconds and everything is fine. Fall over when jumping more than 3 stairs. Pay for the weight of your weapon and all the bullets you bring with it. Be a snail and unable to sprint much when bringing two >10 kg weapons and 4 detpacks.

I never carried stuff like that so can’t say whether I’m right, but lot of the movements seem inhuman currently.

But it’s a different subject - for the OP, I don’t wish suppressive fire introduced right now until the plane bombs issue is fixed. Already too much distraction for some of the non-pro players.

Ok, seems you have some good points in the other post but others also voiced my concern:

agreed, but we will need 200 magazine bullets to do properly, the 50 bulets of the MG34 and MG42 is enough only to cover and give some sirius cover for you squad. HMG squad maybe? i mean, a squad that instead of a mortar, have a Heavy MG. like a browing machine gun for americans, and other models for russias, british etc etc.

nice adition to the game anyway.

It’s the same solution I proposed already.

No, these are definitely bots with the way they act.

That’s good news actually. Thanks for info.

I think the question was whether they were bots mimcking the squad leader’s actions. If the player goes prone, bots tend to follow. I’m unsure whether you answered that.

I guess that would not hurt for me, now that I gave it time to sink in.

Is the barrle guard going to be INSTANTLY hot? Are you going to shoot for a minute??

No - neither - I have carreid a bren and a FN MAG - you can put htem to you shoulder without any bother at all - they are heavy, but if you aren’t holding them ther ffor any time then that’s not an issue.

This was implemented before the bots were smart enough to go prone when the leader does, so it’s independent of that.
