Suppression of suicidal pilots

Everybody gets that moment in game, when you survive a long amount of time just to get run down by a pilot who just suicide dives you out of revenge (most of the time).

Now if that player were to use a dynamite and die as a result of its usage against, that can be understood as the explosions in the game are somewhat of a mistery.

But in the case of using planes, there is only a skill requirement, which most people using planes as a means of revenge against players do not posses. Even after the game has been out for such a long time, in each game it is easy to encounter up to 2 -3 of these types of pilots in each team.

Question is why? There is a way of training with planes so that a player can learn dives and pull-ups as well as accurate bombing. For me it took a few minutes in practice mode to learn basics of piloting, so there is no excuse for suicide pilots.

Also talking about the balance of this. Suicide dives are hardly counterable. AA is not effective in this case and there is not enough time to dodge if the bomb is dropped where the pilot lands, which is usually on the target, so pretty much uncounterable. Even with experienced and accurate pilots there is a chance to dodge the explosion.

So the solution? Best one I can come up with that is not that limiting, it is pretty much a red card. Either make them unable to pick the pilot for the rest of map or give them a 1 min restriction on spawning.

Since always the game promotes suicide bombing.
In the past (for a breath moment) dying short after bombing wouldn’t give you xp for kills. But it was revertef because reasons.

Yeah I have seen that recently after coming back from a break. No wonder they need to feed stats to players who can not pilot even though 5 minutes on a practice map would fix that. I mean after witnessing the level of some players I am not surprised.

Maybe if they spawned plane so it was not just a straight beeline to target from spawn, that players had to turn their plane (reducing speed, getting control) or parhaps a pop up that says you have got a new plane, recommend practice mode tutorial before flying in real match?

Is there already not a notification that you have to complete a pilot tutorial whenever you get your first plane though? Plus for practice there is a map avaiable for all where you can train not only piloting but also bombing and strafing armored targets. I can not really find an excuse for suicidal pilots, they have the tools to learn and get better. It is better probably to just call them lazy and unmotivated to get better, because hey, they dive their target, get rid of him, get credit for it and continue on with playing their other roles until another target becomes a problem and then they just do the same suicide revenge dive all over again without facing any consequences for this method.

Suicide pilots just plain suck at flying. They know one thing. Diving into enemy, unleashing payload, getting massive kills, then crashing. Whenever I take a plane up to shoot them down, they just fly in a straight like obvious to any maneuvering.

I really don’t know how to fix this. You make the repercussions to excessive and new players trying to fly will just give up. However i still think a point system should be in place like in WT. you are forced to play ground. Once you get a certain amount of points you can spawn a plane. Lose plane, points start over to 0.

I think something you missed is some people do it just because they’re in the rage troll mode when you kill them. It happens to me all the time when in my tanks. In fact I find it’s even more rampant among high level players they tend to get butt hurt more easily when killed and suicide bombing is the fastest way to kill you and get back to whatever they were doing. I often times have to immediately start watching the sky after squad whipping a high level player because that plane rage is probably on its way.
This is just what I’ve noticed

It is fine when a guy rushes to me across the map with his inf squad to grenade me into oblivion or if he picks a tank to try and kill me, those are counterable. But how do you counter a plane that is hellbent on crashing into you and dropping all of its armaments directly on you. That is not counterable as such should not be without a consequence for the player using this method.

Also if one can not control his own emotions while playing, then probably he should not be playing, it is fine to get mad, but to ruin someone’s experience using such means, just because you get butt hurt should not be tolerable.

And levels are of no importance in this case, the sanction would apply to all, not only low level players.

Seems fair, though good pilots would probably leave their planes to do objectives if they knew they would be limited to their ground performance before they could actually get another plane.

I do not really wish to limit the good pilots, just punish those who do not learn or train to become better and are using suicide dives as a means of disposing of good opponents while having almost guaranteed success.

Hello this is Europe, not Pacific. Secondly, these are forums, not your first grade literature books. Lastly, dealing with greyzone campers can be done through normal methods such as actual strafing or bombing, not necessarily suicide diving.

Too long, some factions don’t have the “best” planes to deal with tanks like jumbos (basically any heavy tanks that you could think of). as soon i finally destroy the tank on my second try the enemy team has already capture point and i can’t let that happen.

Pacific or not other will still complain about it anyways

Also are the bombs on bombers pretty much a death sentence when thrown accurately at a tank? For me they seem to be as running from a 500 kg bomb that drops 4 meters away from me is pretty much a game over for that tank, but dunno.

Plus if it takes a captured objective before you kill a Jumbo with a strafe or bombs, do you not think the reason is your accuracy? I usually die on a first bombing run or strafe when it is done by a good pilot. Just saying.

i say make the player get in the plane himself, take off the runway, fly to the destination and do the bombing, then force him to go back to the airfield to resupply, if he crashes his plane anywhere near the cap point he’d lose alot of points and not be allowed to use the plane for a while (5 minute cooldown?)

depends on the plane im using. im usually good with dive bomber so i rarely suicide bomb if given the chance

Taking off and landing would be the death of most inexperienced players. Plus I like it, but out of sake for balance, it would take too long and would heavily limit pilots in their activity on the battlefield meaning much less impact. Pilots usually drop their whole cargo and either hit or they do not, either way they just go resupply and do it again. Your idea would have them take 2-3 minutes to fly to an airfield, land, wait for resupply and go off again. In this game 2 - 3 minutes can mean 1 or 2 points being captured in the meanwhile, if the opponent has better team.

What plane are you using btw? I am not much of a pilot myself, I avoid it if not necessary, but I tried out the JU 188-A2 on Normandy and for ground support it does its job well. In terms of the other fighers, the Wfr. Gr.21 rockets seem to be a little underpowered to me, but that may just be my accuracy.

well i dont have any better idea, i dont know what would deteer tryhards from bombing and suiciding constantly

Im currently trying out the fighter pilot class, ME109 on normandy. keeps the teammate tanks alive from P47 and P38, but they’re not safe from infantrys anyways.

my most time with planes are dive bombers. so its a stuka or sbd. i think they nerfed the 250kg bomb on the stuka usually tanks blew up everytime i drop a load or its just misses a drop
