Suicide plane cycling

Gray zone camping is more of a game design issue though. The maps need to be opened up more to the players to end that issue.

I know I am just saying it would encourage them to do it more than usual

elegant solution to using planes as cruise missiles would be to disable the bomb dmg if the player that dropped it is dead

or de spawn the bomb entirely if possible

That was not intended as an attack on you. Just a simple statement based on your “if you cycle planes you don’t know where the enemy is half the time”. Cause in my experience someone who flys a lot knows exactly where the enemy is.

Elegant counter by abusers would be to crash after the bomb did its damage. Or to switch to rocket planes. Or a mix of that.

Also you cant give them a respawn timer if they crashed their plane. How are you going to distinguish between abusers and pancakers? Wanna punish newer players or less experienced/skilled ones for pancaking?

Maintenance costs will punish the entire playerbase cause we all know how this model would be exploited to milk the premium cash cow. So thats a quite undesirable solution.

Would have been a good thing to actually think it through before allowing to buy additional vehicle slots. And thats what most likely happened, the awareness about the possibility of abuse was on the table and then we had 3 cases:

  1. They thought its not gonna be that bad
  2. They simply didnt care
  3. They simply didnt care, cause money

People who fly a lot and learned how to perform CAS well don’t cycle planes because it’s horribly inefficient and doesn’t give you time to correct your attacks or determine priority targets. Cycling gets kills because they go through so much ordinance it’d be a miracle if nobody died.

I don’t really count cyclers as people who “fly a lot” because crashing ain’t really in the operating manual for flight.

I just dont see your point
Feels like we are talking at cross-purposes. We both agree on suicide cycling = bad, dont we? Purpose of this entire thing is to raise awareness for the issue and discuss possible solutions. We all know nothing will happen cause money is involved. But we just feel better when we are talking about it, right?
So nobody ever critisised flyboys in general. Nobody raised the question about how flyboys should be playing the game. Its about suicide cycling. Nothing more, nothing less. Just about abusing a game mechanic. Its also not about the comparison of efficiency of different techniques. Its about abuse.

By spamming the spot button - a pilot can spot every vehicle on the map even outside of the actual render distance, often even through cover.

As a pilot you do not need any help at spotting vehicles what so ever.

Like if bombs had HP and the crash of your own plane would destroy them before they can detonate - doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

I would say though that the main reason for suicide divings is the game design itself - you can drop bombs faster cycling through suicide runs, than to fly back to your resupply spot.

Also most players dont particularly are good at flying and avoid it all together- so they only use them as a quick way to take out a tank out of reach, after that is done there is no need to keep on flying, so suicide diving makes a lot of sense.

Exactly this here needs to change, it needs to be faster to resupply your plane than to spawn and drop your bombs, which would encourage people to keep on flying instead of doing it only for revenge kills.

Uh…what’s pancaking?

trying but failing to pull up in time and making yourself flat as a pancake against the ground

it would slow them down a bit which is all that can be done and is better than doing nothing

Can, do, and do effectively are 3 different things. I Can mark things from the sky but to do so effectively it helps to have an idea where they are. It’s not always like looking for a Pz4 F2 in Tunisia where they stick out like a sore thumb. Plus marking tanks on your own can be confusing for infantry if you’re just spamming it, as well as take up time you could be using to actually attack the tank.

Which again is not the point of this conversation

The “unvolontary” crashing argument is invalid. Any plane which is able to keep flying should be considered a willful suicide dive when they touch the ground. IRL anyone who would fly a plane so close to the ground that they might accidentaly crash would be said to have a suicidal behavior.

NO it is not all it dose is waste time for little kills a good pilot will do mo4re with multiple runs then 100 kamakize dives. Only idiots do that and if it is actually wrecking your team its is more your team being bad then the tactic.

i tend to like barn storming been blown up by own bombs and tank guns or hit buildings. It is valid hide from enemy fighters trick as they 1 will not look low or 2 to scared to chase you under the roof and tree tops.

You seem to lack some background information which you cant be blamed. I would consider myself a top 10% player, maybe even a little bit higher. Regularly topping the scoreboard or beeing close to 1st. And this is not to brag or show off, just to give you an idea of what the intention of this whole yada yada is.
Considering the mentioned skill and experience you are free to assume that i actually know what im talking about. This thread is not about the occasional suicide bomber. We all did it. Nothing to be proud of. This thread is about the described behaviour of exploiting the ability to cycle through 3 or more planes.
Your statement is utter bullshit tho. I consider myself

and nobody can score this many kills by using planes as intended. You just have to do the veeeery simple math.
Spawn your plane, fly to the battle, drop your load, return to refill, fly back, drop, refill…
Thats the intended way. Now the abusive way.
Spawn your plane, fly to the battle, drop your load, crash, spawn next plane, repeat…
Im sure you noticed something. The return to refill part is missing which decreases your time between drops by half. Even more if you are beeing precise cause you dont lose speed by turning/looping back after drop and refill.
Again the problem is not the occasional scrub, its about those who very well know how to fly and who abuse the system. And i know there will always be at least this one mofo who doesnt play by the rules, who always tries to find and abuse the loophole, who just refuses to be a decent part of society, who doesnt give a shit about sportsmanship, who even enjoys to be a troll on the expense of others.
