Suggestions for capture points

I’ve always found it odd that the positions for capturing (or defending) are regular, plain Sergey/Hans homes. Did the area commander just decide “Yeah, that house over there that doesn’t seem like a important objective, let’s send 100+ men to take that.” while sone objective areas do seem important (trenches, bunkers, a church, etc.) Takahashi’s love hut doesn’t seem like one of them.

A couple of things that could help make an objective seem important or like an HQ would be to add military things to said objective, take the farmhouse #2 in Normandy, completely empty without a sign of military importance. Now if you throw say radio equipment, rifle racks, maybe a map on a table or a flag on the wall that could add more life to it.

Also the addition of prebuilt Engineer structures, like say if a certain house is the next objective it will have a predetermined ammo box inside or sandbags in the windows. This of course would only be for objectives in that match, not a constant in other matches. Also for conquest it could have the military equipment and such mentioned before in the buildings for each conquest capture building.

All of these are just suggestions and one last suggestion would be the addition of a staging esq area at the start, say with a map in battle of Moscow the defenders beginning spawn would be military themed with rifle racks, flags, etc instead of ten Ivans just staring at each other in a empty house for who knows how long waiting for Germans to attack.

I believe the idea is that those are strategic, defensive points that are merely steps towards a larger objective.

Agreed, the suggestions are just to add life to the map and to bland objective buildings. Wouldn’t really make since for the entire defending force of 30+ guys (100+ including those not present aka respawns) to fall back to a Han’s empty farmhouse or to Babushka’s knitting lounge.

i agree, especially in destruction mode in which you basically blow up some random shit.

side objectives would be great too, like to destroy some ammo storages, military barracks, arty cannons that would affect the enemy team in some way.

Destruction mode is pretty wacky when think about it sometimes, “Let’s just blow up this random Asian love shack or Russian church, definitely viable to the war effort.”

Side objectives are an interesting idea but would probably require enlisted to be more fleshed out, bigger both map wise and player wise with more in depth in both. At the moment it feels more towards a arena shooter with unique mechanics with how small and little depth some things have.

Destroying ammo storages could be a interesting side objective or one of the main objectives were the point is the ammo storage instead of what we have now. Destroying a artillery emplacement would be neat as a side objective as well with a increased cooldown time for defending teams artillery.

Good ideas just enlisted isn’t really ready at the moment until it improves on its self with more in depth and a bigger player base and maps as mentioned before. Hopefully the big update this year helps with that.

I’m really concerned about this too, it would be such a shame if this game would keep being this way.

for the very least i wish there would be enhanced tools for custom games in which modders could make all this stuff themselves, custom missions with custom objectives when capturing/destroying would bring custom results to the battle. I’d probably spend all my time in those, i am spending more and more time in there already.

It would be a shame, it is decently arcadey already as silenthaven mentioned in another post. I do enjoy enlisted since it’s unique in it’s own way which it can add more too especially in the detailing area and gameplay area.

I do as well, I was a big fan of forge for Halo years ago and it’s nice seeing enlisted have an editor albeit one that seems in infancy. I do wish console players would be able to get their hands on the editor to see what they can make as well and contribute to that. Makes me think of Squad (I’m pretty sure with the star wars mod) that drastically overhauls it into it’s own game but with the same unique foundation of that game. If were able to do this for enlisted it would probably make it more popular and attract more people interested in that.

No one is stopping you from taking your team of six engineers and fortifying the next point. Place an AA cannon there, a machine gun in the window, entanglements, Czech hedgehogs, ammunition boxes or dig air raid shelters. You are only limited by your imagination and the fact that battles since leaving closed beta have become very dynamic, full of idiots rushing forward to their deaths.

Engineers do help but I’m speaking more on a aesthetic side, not the gameplay side other than smaller suggestions like a single pre built ammo box at the retreat point (next objective point) to save an engineer some time if need be especially speaking as a engineer main myself not something drastic like falling back to a pre built fort knox. Mostly since a empty building that doesn’t have a shred of military presence is kinda hard to believe as an objective.

It would be nice if the game showed you the next defense point for the defenders, because if you know you are going to loose a point, you can prepare the next point to be easier to defend instead of trying to stop the inevitable.

You are absolutely right here.

or capture and secure, attackers needs to secure captured point before moving on, this could buy some time for defenders

That could be a neat idea, but it would result in two outcomes.

  1. People giving up on the current objective too early/easily and waiting at the next objective instead.

  2. Creating a meta where players decide to super reinforce the second objective rather than defend the first. Right now engineer structures are balanced so that you can generally only do so much before you come under pressure. If given too much time, they can make themselves impenetrable. Defense has enough of an advantage as it is.
