Similar to how engineer II squads can build a machine gun nest where engineer I squads cannot, why don’t we make radio operator II squads be able to be upgraded to call in rocket artillery?
Could also then make it so premium and event squads with a radio operator could act like radio operator II (similar to how their engineers act like engineer II squads) … could call them Elite Engineers and Elite Radio Operators for Premium and Event squad purposes.

Rocket Artillery can be an upgrade for Radio squads just like bombing runs
That is what I am proposing for Radio Operator II squads within the tech tree, yes. Currently, they are not available for tech tree squads; only for event and *some premiums.

Yes. There is no reason to keep them locked to a few premium/event squads. On top of that I didn’t find the performance to be that good. Seems like a nice gimmick at the end of the day.

This is already something that’s been proposed numerous times and the devs said no. I think if we press our concern about pay to win rocket artillery to them enough, maybe they will make this exclusive to radio op II. As it should have been from the start. Something as influential as paratroopers and rocket artillery should never be pay walled. That is pay to win at its core and it’s as toxic as it comes.
Just because something is released through an event doesn’t make it any less pay to win. Because all someone has to do is buy the event out, And what does that do for those that miss the event? Nothing. Each time something that’s a core mechanic such as this is introduced into the game has come and gone, it affects a new player that joins after the introduction and departure of said item.
Regular artillery rounds can’t penetrate a tank rocket artillery can. Both types of artillery require a direct hit, And in some cases the rocket artilleries easier to aim because it comes in at an angle. Regular artillery comes straight down so it’s not good for areas that have a hole in a wall only areas with a hole in a roof, That’s where rocket artillery excels because it’ll come in at that angle so it’s able to go in through holes in walls as well as doors and windows.
I’d say it’s more than just a gimmick.
What are we looking at here? Is that just a regular radio op squad? I see two radio op, two engineer, and a AT plus every different call in except rockets. Am I missing something ? Lol
That squad is a Radio Operator II squad’s Squad Upgrades … i showed it to display that the rocket artillery upgrade was not in it. It was in reply to GiltBurrito.
Ah, I figured that’s what it was. But yes they definitely need to add that upgrade point to radio operator II. They can’t look at events as a way to not make something pay to win because you can still pay your way through the event. You can also completely miss the event, so it’s an unstable way of obtaining a squad or a unique mechanic.
Strongest counter to the Rocket arty is the greyzone and tank holding W after hearing that something is coming and on the minimap he can see a red circle around his tank. They are useless, inferior and redundant to the using planes. Only against infantry they are better in some scenarios where you will know that people will be defending open up point that has no covers, if there is a building there then it will be inferior to the normal arty or even bombing run.
That’s the exact reason they need to go back to the way they used to work artillery. Nobody had a location, artillery just started landing. But for some reason when they did something for one team and made it so both teams can see each other’s artillery. They need to revert that change so no teams can see artillery fire it just starts raining on the map.
