Hello guys, I have a suggestion for the upcoming update.
I rarely play Normandy, and mostly play Tunisia/Pacific. Because of this, in the new update, there is a likely chance I will get Normandy or Stalingrad battles. My suggestion is since in Tunisia there is both American/British and German/Italian, if I want to use my British or Italian squads, there’s also a good chance I won’t get Tunisia because American and Germans are in Normandy and for Germans Stalingrad and Moscow.
therefore, there should be a solution for this dilemma. Making a separate queue for Tunisia would be a possibility, but that most likely would defeat the purpose for the update. I really don’t know what the ideal solution would be. This thread can be used to exchange ideas if anyone agrees.
Ideal sollution is having UK and Italy as theyr own nations that would be just in Tunisia and Normandy for UK and Tunisia and maybe Stalingrad for Italians.
But we have to wait for news, until then everything us just a speculation.
Imo the ideal solution is use a generic allaies vs axis matchmaking because if some nation are locked away from map it defeat the update purpose, for example japanese faction who can play only one 1 map become underpopulated
But Nations give much more options to future, they give us options of having only ITA vs Brit campaigns. We already have Japanese that will be only in Pacific, giving National trees to UK and ITA woudn’t hurt MM because they would be on same maps as Germans and US that will much more played factions, ITA and UK would just compliment them in those campaigns.
That would go against their new matchmaking, they are removing campaigns to have less divided playerbase across campaigns, with 2 addtional fractions other side may get underpopulated
It woudn’t IMO, those factions would play on same maps as more populated nations as i stated, they wouldn’t have more different MM than Japan, they would just have more options where to be put.
UK and IT are never gonna be as popular as Germany and US that those nations fight side by side. Japan MM will split it more than UK or IT combined.
Barely anyone playing US Normandy atm so population would be definitively split if their marketing fail along with Steam launch, with new MM 2 trees on same map would mean more people with underleveled gear and more problems with balanced matches because let’s be honest there are like 2-3x more axis players than allies and they want to play new games but couldn’t find the opponents with same gear,then it will use classic unbalanced MM so have fun playing with A13 vs Tiger
There is 2 maps in Pacific, “Guadalcanal” and that small Island, can’t remember name.
Yeah, but Italians could fight in Stalingrad too, British in Normandy, they would have same MM as Germany, with exeptions to get Berlin and Normandy, they can theoreticaly be even in Moscow.
You talk about Steam launch when they said multiple times there are no plans for moment.
You know there is gonna be ratings to weapons, soo low tier vs low tier, soo problems you are listing will not be here after update.
It is unbalanced because of how we now have MM, it will not be after update.
Also i dont propose to have only IT vs UK in Tunisia, it would work like in WT, it would be matches Germany+Italy vs US+UK, they would still be in same matches.
Why would they spoil the surprise like 4-6 months before actual launch? They don’t want to reveal everything, however looking at the roadmap i bet with 99% possibility launch on … would mean Steam, in following months they will announce the announcement for launch on that platform, it’s only logical explanation since epic games store won’t bring them any players, and they are already on consoles (switch is worthless and can’t even handle anything plus those players are not interested in fps games). Also only Gaijin CEO was against Steam but it seems Darkflow somehow could convince them that without Steam War thunder would never be where they are now and that’s a fact, same could be said about Enlisted they need Steam to boost their playerbase to stable level.
Im talking about map, jap player is forced to play on the same two small map who togheter are half of moscow main map, is not right because in this way two thing happen
Because US has to fight on 3 front US player on pacif map gets swarmed by japanese one who are more than them
people get bored fast of japanese faction because of the same two small map and ditch here so japanese end be bot farmed by US player who have the luck of fight aganaist them

The update want unify the playerbase not delete one of them, i prefere to see japanese in normandy than the already mentioned scenario
someone haven’t read their blogpost about new matchmaking, if there are not enough players to find fair matches of same BR then it will use classic current unbalanced MM so A13 vs Tiger may happen at any time since Axis was always way more popular faction and US if full of bots both in Normandy and Pacific
Are you suggesting that Japan should be allowed to play on all of the maps then? I think the people pushing for more historical accuracy would collectively lose their minds.
Yes, as other faction, whe already get 2 new map who are not for the pacific this year and lack of map as whe know is wy a side or a faction get bot filled
Both of them for Normandy and Pacific, if there will be battle of France then they will be running around too

But Italy or UK seperate factions woudn’t really affect this.
Italy would be on same maps as Germany except Berlin and Normandy.
UK would be in Tunisia and Normandy.
With theyr weapons, they would still have low tier to mid tier weapons, and those weapons will still be mostly on Moscow, Stalingrad and Tunisia. But with seperate tree it is easier to give Italians new weapons and vehicles without giving Germany more than other nations will have, and they will have a LOT of weapons.
It also makes possibility of more campaigns with historical factions on them, rather than Italians in Berlin.
And separation will also be harder in future, as players will want to retain theyr Italian or UK stuff in theyr German or US tree soo with separations lot of players would gain weapons from other factions they shouldn’t have.
Like for example German Tree in WT has Italian planes that were added before seperation and new players don’t have this option, we don’t really need more walls here for new players, there is already a lot players can’t get anymore.
It woudn’t IMO affect MM that much to have IT glued to Germany and UK to US.
At least thats my opinion, we shall see with next devblog what they are cooking for us.
I already have a bit of an idea of what they are doing to unify the spread-out player base, based on their most recent note, They are gonna unify all axis and allies campaigns together so it will basically be like war thunder while putting in a balance like war thunder with battle ratings, though they did say they will do a second announcement update on going into more detail on the whole rework.
