To balance the super-heavy tanks like the Maus, we need high-speed, high-altitude interceptors. The Horten Ho 229 (as seen in the images) isn’t just a “cool plane”; it’s a necessary tool for BR VI.
Speed vs. Agility: These jets will be much faster than props but have a much wider turning circle, making them harder to use for precise strafing runs.
Anti-Behemoth Role: These jets will carry heavy cannons or early rockets specifically designed to penetrate the roof armor of BR VI tanks that are otherwise unkillable from the front.
Strategic Dogfighting: Air combat will move to higher altitudes. Propeller planes (BR IV-V) will still be better for close-air support, while Jets (BR VI) will focus on controlling the sky and hunting heavy targets.
Fuel & Repair: To prevent jets from dominating the whole match, they should have higher repair costs or limited “Afterburner/High Speed” fuel, forcing them to return to base more often.
The “Glass Cannon”: While fast, early jets are fragile. A well-placed shot from a 12.7mm or 20mm AA gun can easily disable their engines.
