I didn’t know you couldnt move premium troops around until I tried just today.
I don’t know if they’re still selling it but I saw a $8 4 man assault squad early on in my gameplay and grabbed it thinking it was a good deal since every other squad is like 30-40 bucks. It Has been a good deal. But now i’v finally unlocked shotguns and find out that even though the premium units are of the Assault class they can’t use shotguns which seems broken as they are of the assault class.
To use the shotgun I’d have to use the assault troop I haven’t used in ages due to the premium one earning me more xp towards campaign. I found I also cannot put different people into that premium squad.
This just feels broken, it’s like when they were selecting what weapons the premium assault can use they only thought about starter levels and just never checked the Shotgun box. Why even unlock they’re secondary weapon if they can’t use anything but the gun type they come with?
And the troops you bought are not lvl 5 so you could put them into the academy.

Shotguns are mostly a troll gun nowadays. They add a lot of fun and chuckles, but will never be as effective as your main smg. It’s great to have them for the laughs and the fun of it, though. As for the premiums, well…they’re already super soldiers with good maxed up unique weapons. It should be enough as is.
I know, but the game won’t actually let you do that. In fact I can’t even remove them from the squad.
Am curious what you mean by troll gun? I’v found them pretty fun to use when charging indoors. My idea was to put them on the secondary-weapon slot for my little assault squad to swap to when going indoors. They have the secondary weapon slot unlocked, but literally nothing is allowed to be put in there. Seems like they just forgot to click all the boxes when making the squad+class.
This is exactly what I wrote… They ARE fun to use, they simply aren’t good compared to your regular main smg. As such, shooting ppl with it is mostly for laughs.
