It has been an idea a lot of people had as soon as the mighty fox announced a year ago the addition of parachutes:
An airborn squad
Should we have this in the game?
If yes, how would you like it to be implemented?
Like a regular plane where you have to exit your crew manually (like a Ju188 but with 7-9 soldier)?
What about if you land in the grey zone? (Did you lost all the advantage of such a squad because you are now teleported backward?)
Like a radio strike where you directly spawn in the air, outside of the plane?
Like in PUBG where the plane is controled by an AI and follow a fixed road?
Radioman II or III calls planes with airborn squads.
When planes reaches X area then it become spawn point for player & spawn bot paratrooper squads.
Spawn point is unique: it give hidden squad for player with paratroopers.
But yeah. Would be good if map size were like in Tunisia campaign.
It is entirely feasible to let the parachute slowly fall into the combat zone. Teleports to the nearest border of the combat zone if not in the combat zone
This method is relatively unnatural, more like a space soldier descending from the sky in an airborne pod
But this is a actually implementable currently in game, still need a little programming maybe.
When these AI soldiers land in the air, their behavior cannot be controlled correctly, they may move randomly or not move at all, I currently made them disappear and become a respawn point that can only be used once. I’m still looking for a way to make this picture more natural.
In any case, I have to reclaim the memory occupied by these AI soldiers to prevent them from wasting computer storage resources and affecting the game experience.
Another compromise I would like to achieve is that when the AI soldiers are in the air as parachutes, they are also a kind of temporary respawn point. If the player chooses to deploy here, they will automatically be equipped with parachutes and remove the second weapons so that the player can land in the air as a first person via a parachute
Airborne combat would be an interesting way to play on the big map: it would allow players to not have to focus on difficult, intense head-to-head combat, but to use tactics to raid the enemy’s weak points. It’s going to be fun, I guarantee it.
