Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about something that could really expand Enlisted’s variety while still keeping it grounded in real WWII history — the Soviet-Japanese front.
Most of us know Enlisted for the big European and Pacific campaigns, but there were also major (and often overlooked) battles between the Soviet Union and the Empire of Japan. A few of these would fit perfectly into Enlisted’s combined-arms gameplay and could bring in some unique environments we haven’t seen before.

1. Battle of Khalkhin Gol (Nomonhan Incident, 1939)
- A large-scale tank and air battle fought along the Mongolia–Manchukuo border.
- Commanded by Georgy Zhukov — it was basically a full combined-arms war before WWII even officially started.
- Open steppe terrain would make for awesome tank duels, long-range engagements, and air support gameplay.
- It’s also historically significant — Japan’s defeat here pushed them away from attacking the USSR again and toward the Pacific instead.
Verdict: This would make a fantastic Enlisted campaign or major map.
2. Operation August Storm (Soviet Invasion of Manchuria, 1945)
- Massive late-war Soviet offensive that crushed the Japanese Kwantung Army.
- Huge mechanized assault with tanks, paratroopers, aircraft, and fast advances through Manchurian terrain.
- Could be Enlisted’s equivalent of a “final campaign” for the USSR — cinematic, large-scale, and filled with late-war tech.
Verdict: Absolutely deserves inclusion — perfect fit for Enlisted’s style and tone.
3. Other Possible (Optional) Maps
- South Sakhalin (1945): Coastal and urban fighting — could bring in amphibious gameplay later on.
- Lake Khasan (1938): Smaller early-war skirmish — maybe as a bonus map or side event.
- Kuril Islands (1945): Would be interesting, but probably best saved for when naval/amphibious mechanics are added.
Why These Fit Enlisted
- Real WWII history that’s rarely covered in games.
- Unique geography (Mongolian steppe, Manchurian hills, and forests).
- Variety in era: early (1939) and late (1945) conflicts.
- Offers new vehicle lineups for both USSR and Japan.
In short:
Bring in Khalkhin Gol and Operation August Storm as new Soviet–Japanese campaigns — they’re authentic, visually distinct, and full of potential for combined-arms battles.
What do you all think? Would you want to fight across the Mongolian plains or launch a Soviet offensive through Manchuria?
