Personally I like most of the changes made. I think that once people settle into them the only issues we will have are with the availability of silver orders and the lack of retraining points.
If the goal with this update was to streamline the experience and remove unnecessary actions, then removing retraining points was a mistake. Doing so takes an unnecessary action (rerolling perks until you get the one you want) and makes it more convoluted, janky, and take unbelievably longer.
I once had to go through 20 retraining points until I got the 75% medpack use speed perk, the only one I wanted. Before, that would just take playing a few games and doing well then sitting there until I got what I wanted. Now with the new update, if I had the same rolls I would have had to play at least 20 games in order to get that perk. This will inevitably lead to a large deal of frustration with the playerbase because this change seems to exist solely to waste people’s time.
There are a couple of options to fix this. If the devs want to streamline and remove unnecessary actions, as they say they do, then the obvious choice would be to let us select what perks we want our soldiers to use without some random gacha game. Removing retraining points might make sense if they did this, because then it would be on us if we chose the wrong perk. If they want to keep the random gacha game for perks then adding retraining points back would be the only way to make that worth anyone’s time.
