Lol yeah those tanks traps are great. In invasion maps you can literally close off full avenues for tanks to advance from and really really helps out the team!
Sandbags with more hit points are rumored to be coming for the price of 6,000 gold when they release Tunisia Closed Access for $67.99.
It’s not HP as I see. It’s game mechanics bug. You should not be able to kill sandbags with rifle, small SMGs and such at all.
Why not exactly? Blastsax Test Grenade 3 - YouTube
I think the target is balance, not realism - a shot should not harm, smoke should not harm, well placed grenade should take it apart, grenade too far should not. Regardless of the amount of shots or grenades.
If you compare the time required to fill some sandbags compared to the time needed to fix tank tracks in-game single-handedly with only a toolbox, you should realize that it is actually too long to build it. Not to mention the time required to create an anti-aircraft turret from thin air.
The time spent on it is just for gaming, not for realism, but once it is called a sandbag, it should better represent a sandbag.
I wish your nickname was ExtremelyFunny so I did not burst out in laugh that unexpectedly.
god damn yea that grenade was point blank and it only took out like 2 of the bags, it looks like if the bags were stacked taller it might have taken out a few more of em but the barricade as a whole would generally remain intact
Yes, but it is a game. You aim with your mouse. You have to carry 5-7 idiots with you unable to protect themselves or shoot back currently. You don’t hear screams when your entire team gets knifed behind your back by a single “ghost” able to pass through your men in a corridor… etc. You are against sandbags popping out of nowhere within seconds.
So the grenade should be able to destroy sandbags after detonation, as in reality. But not a smoke one, or some rifle shots. At least that’s how it feels correct for me.
well then what about if the sandbags were built gradually every swing that way you could actively repair a damaged sandbag stack with your building tools.
would at least make the creation and destruction of them more realistic, like the only way they could make it somewhat lifelike is if the animation for building a sandbag was replaced and changed to stacking bags.
and then if they wanted to make it next level realistic they could have restock points where engineers have to go when they spawn to grab building materials or when they run out of materials.
like they could make it so there’s a bunch of supply dumps on each side of the map in specific locations that teams can also capture so their engineers and other teammates can resupply from these spots
They should also have variations of the bags, like a low Mg nest
I don’t think grenades should destroy sandbags, at least not a single grenade. When throwing a grenade the goal should be to throw it above the sandbag, killing anyone hiding behind it and letting you storm the position. You can then dismantle the sandbags if you really want them gone or leave them be.
The fact that sandbags are “soft” and have some give makes them better than concrete against explosives. Nothing besides a direct artillery shot or large bore tank cannon shot (and tnt for gameplay reasons) should scratch them.
If you set them up inside a bunker or building and then the place gets hit by artillery or a bomb they still often get destroyed even if they aren’t exposed to the explosion.
I would agree that sandbags should be stronger, but not massively so. I’d argue that, perhaps, sandbags could decrease in height with procedural destruction as they take damage, but in general, they should take at least two explosive hits to destroy - albeit at the same time, I’d say no more than three.
Doing so would make them more useful in general, as it would protect you from the first hit allowing you to retaliate, instead of, as often happens if you’re hiding behind sandbags, you getting mowed down the moment an explosive removes said cover. It would also make them more useful for fortifying capture zones.
to be realistic, u need 1 meter sandbags to get a chance to hold off a 7,62 mm Mg42 shot.
But we only have 30-40 cm sandbbags, that could potencial penetrate by anything.
That mean they actually stronger then they could be in real.
Are you sure?
“Years ago I met a girl who lived in Sarajevo during the siege and she told me that they were using bows as well as assault rifles on the front lines as they shot through sand bags and water butts when bullets didn’t - I needed to find out for myself; do arrows do things bullets can’t?”
Around 16:30 in the vid, sandbag stops the shot, and I guess the two small bags in that position is equivalent to one sandbag in the game.
Another video, more weapons fired, at the end an AK and then a huge one:
AK is told to be stopped by a single sandbag here. “Sand is a very effective way to stop a bullet. Two bags of sand will stop pretty much every caliber from 50 down.” (Same result by someone else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fBvHhBrBJg - please consider that these two sandbags are more or less as wide as a single bag laying/sideways in the game.)
Now if Google is right, 50 cal is 12.7 mm.
So as I see a MG will tear apart the sandbag wall after a while, but better to use bows instead of single shots of assault rifles against it.
No chance against sandbag with 5.56 armor piercing bullets:
Wish you could upgrade them a second time, if you choose to do so into concrete barriers.
Sandbags are basically useless getting oneshot by the 3 artilery blobs every 30 seconds.
No concrete walls please… It’s hard to believe sandbags just happen to materialize in front of you, but then walls???
Artillery should not happen every 30 seconds. A direct hit destroys sandbags but otherwise they are much more resilient than a human being I guess.
Apart from that an upgrade to fix the gradually degraded wall or to add another layer on top/to a side of a perfect one is OK for me.
People complained endlessly on the forums about engineer defenses so they got nerfed into the ground. Thank your fellow forum goers.
@115731380 artillery does indeed happen every 30 seconds if you have a leveled radio squad.
And I don’t think that’s normal because I saw so much complaining about it. I’m either flanking or lost most of the time on the map so does not really matter for me, but still…
So it’s time for powerups then maybe? A smoke grenade killing a sandbag is sandbug.
It should withstand rifle shots, should not survive direct grenade or explosive pack or tank shot (but the guy behind may), but anything small enough exploding 2 meters away … well it’s up to developers, my opinion was not to be demolished.
I had no problem with engineer defenses as they were pre-nerf. Then again if my enemy is prepared and dug in, I don’t just yoloswag at them full sprint and complain when I get cut down.
I agree with you, sandbags should be less delicate but it wont jive with most people’s play style of just running straight at the enemy.
exactly as running straight at the enemy shouldn’t work with a dug in team in a defensive position like this isnt the 1600’s where you’d shoot one shot miss and end up requiring 3 minutes to reload so you’d just drop the musket and charge in with a sword… but going native and whipping out my axe seems to be the best solution to taking out a fortified position like seriously no one expects someone to come flying in, jump at you and axe you right in the face lol and as they try to figure out wtf just happened and where they are not after jumping to another guy im just carving up the rest of the squad 1 by one lol
