Strategic Battle Map Before Matchmaking

Suggestion: Strategic Battle Map Before Matchmaking

Right now, when you press Play, you get thrown into whatever battle the game picks. I’d like to suggest a different flow: instead of an instant loading screen, you see a strategic map of the campaign and choose where you want to fight.

How it could work:

  • After pressing Play, a strategic map shows the available battle locations.
  • You select the location you want to play on.
  • Before the match starts, you see key info about that battle: the date, the factions involved, the type of terrain and the objectives.

Why it’s worth it:

  1. Loadout built for the battlefield: you enter with equipment suited to that specific map (for example, close-range weapons for city fighting, long-range ones for open fields).
  2. Battle-specific weapons: some historical weapons and gear would only appear in the battles where they were really used, which makes each battle feel unique.
  3. Knowledge before the fight: you know what to expect, so you can plan your squad and tactics instead of guessing.
  4. A more relaxed experience: you play the kind of battle you are in the mood for, instead of getting a map you dislike again and again.
  5. Stronger historical feel: it makes the campaign feel like a real war you are choosing to fight in, not a random queue.

I know queue times and balance are a concern. This could work as an optional mode, or players could pick a preferred region and the game fills the match when enough players are available.

What do you think? Vote below and tell us why in the comments.

  • Yes, great idea
  • Yes, but as an optional mode
  • No, I prefer the current system
