Stop balancing guns based on how much ammo they carry

Who’s idea is this? It is frustrating to people who use it and who faces it. In historical aspect, does it make sense? No! You go to picnic or what? Who brings only one extra magazine in battlefield? Does it make sense in balancing aspect? No, it is still OP when there is ammo and you know there are plenty of ways to get more ammo. Stop balancing guns by how much ammo they carry in battle.

i dont think it was necessary to remove the AVT’s spare mag.

but i dont know about this one cheif. changing ammo counts is a great way of balancing some guns without changing their (mostly) historically accurate performance.

How about restrict accessibility of them. For example restrict the gun for only specific type of troops or restrict the amount of these gun. In my opinion this is more historically accurate.

too much effort

that would work for some guns, but you cant just keep making new soldier classes for each imbalance, so obviously you will need other ways of balancing. and i far prefer changing ammo counts over tweaking firerate damage and recoil (recoil changes is sometimes pretty ok) to the point where the guns dont resemble their real life counterpart

i would rather have the mp 43 with only 120 ammo (as it is in game right now), than 150 ammo and 100 less firerate or something like that

how do u do that? only way i can think of would involve forcing ppl to not use a squad bcause someone picked up a gun instead of letting it despawn or making ppl change their loadout somehow in order to use it

there is a reason that they want to do for enlisted and that is

with so far the only expection to the rule is the americanc carbines

Ammo count is no longer a balancing thing, they standardized it a while back. Small pistol caliber SMGs get as close to 140 rounds as possible while larger caliber SMGs and intermediate caliber guns get 120 rounds. Full caliber bolt actions, semi-auto and infantry available full-auto get as close to 30 rounds as possible and LMGs get as close to 100 rounds as possible.

American carbines are in .30 carbine, so they use the same ammo count count as large pistol/intermediate caliber guns. The only gun that doesn’t follow this trend is the MkB 42 is moscow, which has 90 rounds for some reason.

game considers m2 to be a self loading rifle even the m2a1 version

I know, but the devs put it in the large pistol/intermediate caliber gun category with things like the Thompson and MP-43/1, so that is why it has the count it does.

Looks like all intermediate cartridge rifles(not for assulters) follow this trend
G43k also has base 2 spare mags(90 total ammo, at least without ammo bags)

Agree this wont help one bit. If a gun is still OP then its still OP ^^

Yup, thats exactly what the devs did, the only gun that does not follow this now is the MkB 42 in moscow which has 90 rounds for some reason.

Honestly, I think the semi-auto rate of fire cap should apply to the select fire assault rifles such as the FG-42, FG-42 II Sniper, AVT-40, AVS-36, and AVS-36 Sniper. Devs could revert the changes done to ammo counts with the aforementioned guns.
