Steel body armor: historical accuracy or advantage?

The 2 new squads for Battle of Berlin have been just announced and as they say in the Q&A this premium soviet squad has steel body armor that can, using their same definition, “somewhat reduce damage from bullets hitting the body”. I’m all for historical and semi-historical settings and loadouts, but the fact that they have introduced a specific uniform and body loadout to the premium squad that gives a survivability buff, not only against normal squads but also against premium squad of the opposite team isn’t properly balanced.
What do you think?

As long as they dont allow them to consistently tank rifle rounds, im somewhat fine with it.

It they:
a) still have +35% vitality
b) don’t have movement penalty
it’s pure advantage. Paid advantage so P2W, at least in 1vs1 scenario.

It doesn’t do shit

Well, it was not even that effective mostly protected against shrapnel and pistol rounds!

They commented that it will act the same as helmets with a slight damage reduction. But its not going to do anything to rifle rounds tbh

It’s said that be the same armor like helmet.
0.1mm steel.

0.1mm,that’s tin foil not armor

it will be pay to win if it dont make them slower and if they can tank rifle rounds

From what I’ve it’s like helmets meaning it’s a slight reduction to only pistol caliber guns. But I would still like a movement reduction

Helmets are only against small shrapnel but any larger removes your head =)

i have entire clips of americanski helmets stopping g43 bullets.

are the g43s considered pistols?

They do not

They do not

Long story short, the Armor doesn’t feel OP, the squads die very easily. It doesn’t feel like they are tanking rounds.

That’s good news.

I haven’t noticed any additional survivability with this squad. Maybe under a very specific set of circumstances I have yet to see? But certainly not in my experience so far.

Pretty much from what the devs have said its “instead of dying in two bullets from a smg you may die in 3” emphasis on may. Honestly it doesn’t do much

Depends on angle perhaps?
