Standardize rifle damage across weapons

Greetings,

I have made my way up the soviet tree a bit now, and have noticed the weird damage numbers on the rifles. The Mosin, Mosin carbine, SVT-38/40, AVS-36, and DP-27 all fire the same round. All have the same muzzle velocity, aside from the Mosin rifle which is higher.

Since this game is a long way from fine tuning balance, I suggest all weapons have their damage scaled based upon the kinetic energy of the round. For soviets, all rifles would do 15 damage, with the Mosin doing 18. It makes no sense that the SVT and AVS-36 do half of the damage of the Mosin carbine for the same round and same muzzle velocity.

Repeating and semi automatic rifles were a big deal in WW2, and I think they should be left to be used as such.

Naturally the same would apply to German and American weapons.

The main reason I guest this is because nerfing damage is a slippery slope to the game being a “bullet sponge” style shooter, which also undermines the other features of the gun. If a weapon takes 2-3 shots to kill it would never have been adopted, and if it were, it would have had larger magazine sizes than 5,10, or 15 rounds.

With the way squads work with AI, there is potential to be a different style shooter be using the natural strengths and weaknesses of each army, rather than tweaking arbitrary values.

I personally think the semi automatic weapons should only do a slightly lower ammount of damage, or equal damage, as the bolt action rifles. But in return, they should have more recoil so you can only fire them quicker at short distances, or if you are skilled enough to control it.

I think most people here agree that semi automatic rifles should be nearly on par with bolt actions, maybe slightly less damage to avoid being an absolute bitch to face in combat.

I hate playing Semi-auto rifles, they only work better than mosins at short distances. Even if they make Semi-auto deal the same damage as bolt action, I will still use bolt action more because I have trouble hitting anything with Semi-auto
