Stalingrad maps are atrocious

So I tried Stalingrad for the first time since it released and now remember why I quit the campaign. The map design is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. Every map is far too large, way too open and the bombing run as the cherry on top is beyond irritating to deal with. The maps just make the campaign unplayable

I agree. Personally, I think there is too much verticality and not enough cover where it really matters (open areas like streets, but with intelligently placed cover). I’m sure plenty of people will argue against it, but I don’t even know anyone who genuinely prefers Stalingrad. Feels like the WOW-factor dissipated insanely fast upon release.

Basically everything outside of Tunisia, has way too much clutter, they’re just a nightmare to use vehicles on, Stalingrad is also pretty freaking cluttered as far as vehicles go, I like the verticality of Stalingrad and I don’t mind playing on it that much, it’s not as offputting as something like Normandie or as tiny feeling as Moscow, The thing I don’t like about Stalingrad is that it doesn’t really have much of grind, I find that I miss the extra challenge that the grind from the other campaigns provides and I wish it was more like them in that regard.

Exactly, the grind with the full access is too fast to enjoy the squads

Definitely, I find it in the other campaigns, especially Tunisia axis, as I’ve maxed out there, i’m going back through some of my favorite squads and rebuilding certain parts of them to get them just the way I want them and this is fun and adds a whole other level to the game.

The thing I do like about Stalingrad is the air game, it’s fun trying to shoot down the bombers.

Stalingrad is probably my favorite campaign if they add some more maps. The historical points, you fight in the streets and through the buildings that real soldiers did. The atmosphere is great, the verticality gives great options for guerrilla warfare, the bigger maps help. Hiding in basements, fighting the enemy for each floor, each room, each closet and toilet. The unique buildings force the player into close quarters combat that isn’t seen in other campaigns. I can’t wait to see what else it has to offer in the future.

I can slightly agree there. If you use full access, you can level a little bit too quickly. Maybe a 50% point buff is enough.

If stalingrad was full access to everyone and the purchase gave 50% exp along with the reduced upgrade costs etc it would be a good campaign. Remove the MG stamina and recoil(?) add in some maps and boom, a good campaign.

Also, I love the Stalingrad planes, tanks, gunplay. The bolt actions are really fun, and I do like the stamina decrease on MGs. It makes the game more tactical in a way, you need to think of where to use your MGs and such.

No, no. I have seen plenty of players recommend putting full campaigns behind a pay wall along with other buffs. The devs partially did it, and I personally like it. However, even though I’ve seen players ask for it to be the way it is, players, like you, now complain that campaigns are behind pay walls. I like the way the developers did Stalingrad.

Well honestly getting to use a luftwaffe drilling when everyone can’t is pointless because I blow past it in level so fast I get better guns immediately, that’s what I’m talking about,

I thought Stalingrad was just 1 map. I for one would love to see more. TIK on yt does an amazing breakdown of this battle, any developer should find a goldmine of map wealth there. For the Stalingrad map I have seen thus far, I think its fine. There is just so much more to this battle and I hope the map makers are aware(the perpetual bombing thing is somewhat excessive).

What made me not play Stalingrad much is the map selection especially with the lack of winter maps and some other recognizable areas. It feels incomplete compared to the maps from Red Orchestra 2.

It’s funny, I was just watching a TIK video on Stalingrad as I read this.

My biggest problem with stalingrad is the same one I have with berlin, the enviroment is too complex for the bots to navigate which makes the gameplay loop frustrating
I don’t find the map itself to be too bad, but the fact that the bots cannot jump through windows to enter buildings or navigate through rubble makes me wat to pull my hair out every time I try to infiltrate the objective just to realise that my entire squad got itself killed while searching for a door
Not to mention that the verticality messes up the bots pathing big time, they usually get stuck on stairs, or they just ignore that you are on the second floor and try following you in the first floor once again getting themselves killed
