I just had a situation when enemy atacked my 4 AI and I decided to watch how they behave. I’m joking, I was shooting but I have shit aim so I did nothing.
Anyway the enemy killed/downed 2 of my guys, reloaded and killed the remaining two. Meanwhile my AI did exactly nothing.
I must admitt they were 1 star soldiers. But this is just absurde.
On it’s own, AI is so useless it’s unbelievable. And we can give it only very basic comands that don’t really help either.
but sometimes they know how to go CQC, but i noticed that the AI shoots and does damage from a distance of 50m the problem is that they are unable to follow a moving target
it depends on a few factors, but if you position them and then ping the direction for them to look in they tend to get more kills. At the very least it positions you to get the return kill since they are in a favorable spot and already facing your target upon switching.
well, not many major updates have been made to bots.
but from what i see in stalingrad, they can be effective ( the wonderer bots ).
i don’t know their stats, but i noticed that they have stronger equipment.
like, the germans uses mg42s, mkhbs, and also have flametroopers dudes with backpack.
although, they do not use " special " weapons such as the flamethrower it self.
same goes with the russians,
bredas, ppks, avts and other few weapons.
not much, but a small detail.
at 4 stars, they kinda act like 1st star, but their reaction is more efficent if they are standing still, getting shot at, or killing everyone who is in range of, 5/10 meters.
I tried a few tactics but so far it seems to me that AI behaviour is RNG.
Sometimes they are on guard position, I point the enemies and AI does nothing. Other times one AI with BA rifle can turn on terminator mode and kill 3 enemies in a few seconds.
They need to rework their path finding too, yesterday i put a rally point inside a church in Normandy with a door behind and all of them were kissing the walls after each spawn… so yeah they need a lot of work.
I hate it that you can’t leave them outside of enemy rifles range, but they also can’t hide. They get into cool looking position and wait to get shot, or they derp around infinitely. They are practically blind. Single AI unit should be able to observe it’s close surroundings 2-3 times per second and keep their head down if they can’t, is that too much to ask?
And the best thing is, despite being so utterly uselles in 99.99% of time. Whenever you are in a critical situation there will be some bot with a BA rifle that will onhit you and turn away and do its bot things even before your body hits the ground.
I currently see pathfinding as a real pain in the ass. You cant even build rallies behind a bar because the AI doesnt know how to climb it and they also get confused in buildings with more than one level.
yet from a distance, I can get sniped by an enemy AI. Seems like the AI on “real” player teams are useless while the full AI team thrown into a game for “balancing” can sit on a position and defend it with shots through walls and obstructed views.
