Squad vehicles

Add the possibility to put vehicles to your squad for faster movement on the map:

  • Bicycles
  • Horses
  • Cars
  • Bikes

At the moment you may not need them but in combination with new features like for example save spawn points that cannot be camped (but which are further away). They could be useful.

Could even be extended to motorized infantry with Sd.Kfz.251

Horses were no longer used in combat, at least not on purpose.

Yes, during Barbarossa Germans deployed more horses than trucks, but as we are not playing a logistic simulator with supply squads, those shouldn’t be taken into account.

Cars and trucks are already present on some maps

Could look funny, but with the maps we have now - it would serve no purpose.

As @VoyoMayPL already said - horses were not used in direct combat. In logistics - of course. But not on a battlefield.
And there are definetely more things that devs should focus on instead of trying to properly animate the horse. For example soldier animations still need some work.

The cars that are in game are pretty good just put them in more maps

Horses in World War II were used by the belligerent nations for transportation of troops, artillery, materiel, and, to a lesser extent, in mobile cavalry troops.”
I wrote “combat”. And as far as I know logistic isn’t combat.
Even cavalry units dismounted to fight, there are some exeptions but they are exeptions.

Nope, Italians charged British Tanks in the African Campaign and also a Soviet position during the eastern front on horse back.

Charge of the “Savoia Cavalleria” at Izbushensky - 1942
( “Savoia Cavalleria” and the 812th Siberian Infantry Regiment (304th Rifle Division)

British tanks where 4 Matilda’s that were ambushed by Italian cavalry, although this was more of an insurgency style attack than an official one, but having read the action report, they were armed with sabres, grenades and not much more.

They were certainly rare, but there are instances of cavalry charges occurring, albeit in minor skirmishes.

So as I wrote, exeptions and not on purpose (in a meaning of following the doctrine).

The other rare event was one Scottish guy using bow and sword to fight in tranches, also nukes and big berta. My point is, an instance of something happening is not a good enough reason to add it to the game. There are many other less rare things that can be added and many existing things can be improved.
Half-tracks, small APCs and perhaps light recon vehicles are very welcome. Most likely they will be added.

But they still happened, Cavalry units still charged positions as described by the concept of cavalry.
They were planned as such,.

This video sums it up quite well
(1) Last Cavalry Charge | Stuff That I Find Interesting - YouTube

Jack Churchill was born in Sri Lanka and was for all accounts, utterly insane.

I’d rather see these than the light and medium tanks we have at the moment to be fair.

So in this video cavalry described is:
a) mostly from east Asia
b) mostly mounted troops
c) mostly scouts
I agree that cav fights happened (it would be strange if they didn’t with so many horses in armies) but unless we have some kind of skirmish-like mission I don’t see reason why we should have combat cav in game.

Also take note that implementing horses into the game is literal goldmine for bugs.

For all of the discussions surrounding horses, they’re kinda moot point as:

1: Game would get bad rep for animal abuse if they could die, and making them invincible wouldn’t exactly be a solution.
2: A horse is a complex model to make and animate for, costing a significant amount of money compared to inanimate objects like bikes, while only offering drawbacks when compared to bikes.
3: They would probably lead to map design issues where you use them to climb onto some obscene place.
4: You’d only ever find 1-2 horses, not nearly enough to get your entire squad mobile. Even with bikes it wouldn’t be much better, but they were generally more common than horses.

I don’t bind bikes and other vehicles, but horses would be a bad idea.
