This game has it merits but the squad AI needs some form of update as many times you get onto a mounted weapon for them to stand right in your way. Even when you ask them to stay in a wide formation they do this. Squad AI seems to only be there to shout ‘HEY LOOK IM HERE’

I just use the X command to keep them away from me so I can look out windows in a small house or use the loose formation command usually keeps them away as well.
The devs are still trying to figure out exactly how to make the AI react in a more “human-like” way to all threats. It is a “learning” AI and myself personally I have noticed slight improvements in their aim and threat analysis/taking cover/going prone etc. I can only expect it to get better as they get more data and flesh out the algorithms.

I do this too, but after a certain distance they start running behind me again and the distance is really short

Yeah the Squad AI is getting extremely frustrating. They are just set pieces and so useless. I go and switch to squad mates and they are just looking at walls, looking the opposite direction from where the fightings happen, in the water. Just all over the place and just really frustrating to swap to and you see the AI wasn’t doing ANYTHING then just being a easy target.
