Squad Abilities by Type

Discussion of class limits got me brainstorming. Playing other MMO’s got me thinking. Verdun does something sort of like this

I think it would be a neat idea to have squad “abilities” based on squad type ie:

Assault: “Breach and Clear” your squad clears the building it is ordered upon before regrouping

Riflemen: “Hold the Line” while stationary your squad has increased rate of fire and detection in ONE DIRECTION.
“Frontal Assault” your men run right at the enemy while firing non-aimed shots

Some abilities could just be AoE buffs for you ajd your men

AT squads got buffed in the next update with bots firing rockets so thats that

Mortars would get an AoE “barrage” ability

Snipers would have to have some advanced recon or ability where again detection radius is maybe doubled and the sniper tries to hit a VIP target idk.

Just thinking of ways to spice up gameplay while incorporating the distinct flavors of each squad type. Maybe its simply a fantasy “perfect game” idk. What do you gentlemen/ladies think?

I am very against of making enlisted a hero shooter but damn this actually sounds nice, as long as it is kept in such a realistic approach where each special order actually fits for the class intended role then I can get behind this one for sure.

Exactly, I want there to be more class/squad type distiction like other MMOs, where certain classes all have their own unique strengths showcased in abilities, and where players can use their men in their intended role more often than just simply another meat-bag

Like for Machinegunner squads, maybe only the squad itself gets a suppression mechanic along with a Suppressing Fire ability.

I love this idea!

Again, just being able to point/prioritize the squad’s orientation/facing and attention in a general direction would be a Godsend.

The idea that, at some point in the future, I could order sharpshooters, for example, to prioritize targets carrying flamethrowers would have me downright ecstatic.

more distinction among nations/squads/weapons etc is always the direction a high quality game wants to evolve.
enlisted can do a lot in that regard in the next 12 months (e.g. subtypes for soldier classes)

I would love to choose my soldiers by more interesting factors than “has the privilege of carrying an automatic gun”.

Special abilities like these would be a great way to achieve that, and give your bots some more utility which is already a popular topic.

This kind of system is exactly what is needed, and may provide a solution to the current situation where SMG squads alone are sufficient for engineers, anti-tanks, etc., and other squads are no longer needed.
It is somewhat too simplistic to say that the only squad-specific personality is the ability to make anti-tank guns and heavy machine guns.
