Spotting, lack of incentives

Players hardly ever spot, the 15xp for a tank is no different to a grenade on a tank (not destroy), people don’t mark general direction, they don’t even mark tanks.

Now some won’t mark coz they want that kill / xp, but some won’t mark because they don’t realise they benefit too, never mind team knowledge!

Suggestion, increase XP for spotting tanks, apcs and somehow do a kill proximity for infantry marks please. (Something like this for smoke would generate more support orientated play too!)

Open for discussion below, keep it civil please :guardsman:

I disagree. Doesn’t reflects my experiences at all.

I certainly don’t feel like I’m always the only one who spots tanks.
But it’s true that I prefer to play popular factions, because playing with casuals is extremely frustrating for me.

But I support any incentive for higher rewards to spotting.

The sad part, people don’t spot for others in general, rather they spot tanks for themselves to get that real time wallhack on them for a short time - or planes spamming the spot button on their way to the combat zone to get lucky tank spots, that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to see.

Also the regular red markers aren’t used to tell temmates where the enemy is at, instead the regular spotting mechanic is pretty much only used by us veterans that know that AI soldiers react with those spots and target enemies at those locations better.

The spotting mechanic sadly isn’t a team play mechanic right now.

I support this, I’d do 50 for tank assist spots at a minimum. And for doing damage I’d do 75.
This 15+ points for a assist is horrible. If you damage and mark it and someone else gets the kill it should award the higher amount of points obviously. Basically a assist should be worth half as much as a vehicle kill, and a spot maybe 3/4 of a assist. Some room to play with the right numbers.

As for infantry, if they have some sort of proximity mark that they can come up with I’d set that to maybe 8 meters. If they can even come up with something like that. They have worked a lot to unspaghetti the code, but it’s still a total mess.

I could also see a new type of score being added for smoke: “spot denial” giving +5 points to all failed spotting attempts within the “no mark smoke zone” .

It’s not that players don’t mark at all, it’s that most don’t see a point. The marks are almost never accurate and are mainly used to wall hack tanks, or tell a direction the enemy is coming from. So incentivizing it may help.

I don’t spot any tanks for one reason.

A shooting game has turned into a warthunder or warplanes, where everyone runs to picks up vehicles and gets farming kills without any effort.

Do you want free targets? Get by.

You either have the worst players on your team imaginable or you are playing with full bots on your team.
I have not had almost a single game without atleast one helpful teammate, however I do support you suggestion. 15 score is pretty much insignificant and doesn’t encourage people to spot in the slightest.
