Yesterday I had 4 cases of spawnkilling so I decided to share them. Most of them were caused by bad grey zone desing.
2 matches on Ruins of Vaux (invasion) had 3 cases of spawnkilling:
- We were defending 3nd point and lost it. Before 5s passed, US started spawning on this point before we managed to retreat from it, the grey zone didn’t even move. It was frustrating to both sides as we didn’t have chance to escape and some US guys were spawnkilled by us.
It shouldn’t work like this, firstly the grey zone should move and then spawn can be activated, not the opposite.
- On the 3rd point Jumbo was camping german tank spawn. He was hiding on the A point in conquest.
I tried to flank him with a tank [insert joke about flanking the jumbo here] but before I managed to do this, we lost the point and I had to go back. But reverse speed offroad is so pathetic that I got caught in the grey zone and I had to abandon my tank to try to survive.
So this one is more about bad grey zone design but also about spawnkilling.
- 4th point. Some madlad with grease gun was running on german spawn and was shooting at us. Why US player was allowed to be on our spawn? How does it make any sence?
[edit]
I forgot about the greatest one, 1st point on Ruins of Vaux as deffender. When you spawn there for the first time (“on point” spawn) you are instantly sniped by infantry or shelled by tanks, in past also massacred by artillery and planes.
==========
Airfield, this one is more intersting.
It was 2nd point, I decided to go to the oposite side of runway to stop US snipers. It was easy push forward untill enemy spawned in front of me and I realised that I’m on US spawn. Why was I allowed to enter enemy spawn?
Anyway I lost against immortal jankees and tried to do the same manuver but this time not enter the enemy spawn. And it turned out that the enemy was spawnkilling me this time. He was directly outside the spawn, maybe 10-15m from me.
When I finally managed to exit the spawn, I decided to set up my MG and prepare for the next atack from that direction. And it ended up as another spawnkilling as I was looking directly at the exit from the enemy spawnpoint. What’s funny is that I used boxes that are meant to bolck my vision on the enemy spawnpoint (I guess so but apparently not) to mount my MG.
(Could we have official map images so I don’t have to draw them myself from memory? Thanks.)
There is only one obstacle between US and german spawn there. They are too close to each other, you can have line of sight on the enemies’ exit from spawn when you exit your spawn.
So that objective was a spawnkill fest.
I wonder if spawnkilling should be added to “daily reminder about…” list as it’s becoming more and more prevalent, at least that’s what I experience.

the problem ultimately lies in how some maps have been designed (you know which ones), it doesn’t take much to change the spawns location to avoid this, but it seems that the developers don’t care how, the Americans’ 5 second spawn bug, or the absurd matchmaking that puts the players at random without taking into account if you are new or a veteran of the game +1 for me for all the other users who will read the OP topic comment and leave a like

Maps are awesome in terms of visuals but need quite a lot of work in terms of gameplay.

it seems to me that after making the map they put 1 or 2 random spawns without taking into account the distance as in airfield the 1 USA spawn is practically a target practice, but at least the map are beautiful to see, on gameplay There is so much work to be done on the gameplay that you could write a saga of novels

Too bad if you spawn to wrong point you have to watch that beauty through red filtter
remember there are no wrong points but only bad spawns Amen

Whoever designed the maps likely never played video games.
There’s several places on every map where you can easily spawn camp the enemy that no one will overlook, unless it was intentional.

Amen. You said right. My friend rage-quieted, cause he’s spawnkilled instantly 2 sec after spawn with tank. I didnt remember the map. but it was a last checkpoint (capture point) and the last vehicle spawn point. He get killed directly after I killed by 1 shot from T-34…(haha we all know how shit is “one shot” thing in Berlin
)
Well…more decent placed/variant spwawn point would be better for all the maps. Berlin mostly, Normandy as well a bit.
They should have a bunch of ai that sit around the spawn area to kill the spawn campers lol.

I agree that the grey zone is bs. After captures the capturers spawn closer too early. Capturing is way easier than defending because of flaws like this. I covered this on a different thread before.

About your 4th point - I actually like that this exists. Sometimes, a mad dash through the gray zone is the only chance I have of killing persistent spawncampers. If people should be fully protected in the gray zone, the gray zone should have obscured visibility - Not direct line of sight to the front. It encourages camping.
I don’t want to protect the guys in the grey zone. I just want to make so that grey zone is truly out of combat area, not “we can fight you but you can’t fight us” area like it is now.
And also I want to get rid of spawnkilling completely as it can be annoying thing to both sides and brings nothing positive to the game.

I would agree with this. And I think the majority of it could be solved by changing terrain and visibility. If people can’t see in or out, spawnhumping becomes much harder.
Part of the problem has to do with the maps being cutouts of much larger maps. Often, you will spawn with convenient cover right in front of you (like a pile of logs), and a straight los to the front. It is mainly this design which causes camping/death in and around spawns, in my opinion.

But hey, check out the patch notes! Seems like we got at least some of what we wanted!
There is still lot of spawn killing places. And if it counts those maps whit bridge is first cap have become base rape fest. or mayby i was just unlucky and got couple bad matches
More spawnkilling, this time d-day.
Main problem was the jumbo one the 1st picture. I guess I didn’t flank hard enough when he was hiding 600m in the grey zone.
Problem here is you didnt have at soldier with sturpistole and 200% mad pack perk. just run, use med kit and launch sturmpistole at proper angle. if done right that jumbo might see explosion caused by sturmpistole and he loses precious seconds while laughing so one friendly engineer can slip from spawn point…
Ofcourse its too late when spawn raping begins so you have hide in bushes right after 3rd poit is lost
