Soviet VS German PPSh

Anyone else noticed that the german capture PPSh shoots significantly slower than it´s soviet counterpart? Almost 200 rpm. I wonder why.

this might have something to do with it

i dont know history so i have no idea if earlier versions actually had lower firerate

might be the rounds might be the reason why since the 9mm parabellum does reduce the cycle rate

7.63 Mauser is not nearly as hot as 7.62 Tokarev therefore there is less energy to cycle the gun, cycling it slower. It should accordingly have slower velocity, slightly lower damage, and slightly lower recoil.

So that we break down which mysteriös reasons stay behind the german ppsh firing slower, why the hell is the german MG42 literally a polished MG34 in terms or rate of fire? Some could argue here because of some balancing reasons but ppsh-41 is as well far out of water and superior than every other SMG.

Yeah I noticed that too. Personally I never heard of a slower firing early model that the germans apparently would have captured en masse and I wonder if there was ever any testing proof for the slower rates of fire theory… but then again this is only Enlisted and not Red Orchestra.

Which leaves the question why the devs saw the need to give the Soviets a better SMG than the Germans. Personally I suspect balancing reasons for whatever else the german have of great endgame stuff that the soviets cant compete with.

or it could be from the rounds themselves, since the 9mm parabellum ppsh does fire slower than normal ppsh due to 9mm not having the energy

They are both 7.62x25 PPSHs though. The 9mm one only used 32 round MP40 magazines. The 9mm is named MP 41 (R) and the captured one is MP 717 (R)

7.62 mauser isn’t the same as 7.62 tokarev though

Very close. So close the Germans used 7.63 mauser in the captured PPSHs.

No modifications required and both rounds were loaded to almost the same pressure
