- Stripper clips for semi-autos. Semi-Automatics are already exceedingly powerful and this won’t change the fact that they’re objectively better than a bolt-action 90% of the time, so for guns like the SVT-40 and the Gewehr 43 they should be reloaded with stripper clips.
- Stopping a reload with a magazine inserted should not force the reload to restart, instead it should just require the player to charge the bolt.
- More revolvers. While rarely more common than automatics, they were very much present in the war and could possibly be provided as a more accurate and even possibly more powerful option besides the standard semi. While a bit dated, I did talked about it here: Revolver suggestions
- More second line rifles in Berlin. The Germans used Mannlichers, Carcanos, Danish and Norwegian Krags (although these saw frontline use outside of the last years of the war) and Gewehr 88 and 98 variants throughout the war as secondline weapons and as frontline weapons later in the war. There addition wouldn’t detract anything and would provide an opportunity to show plenty of the interesting rifles the Germans captured and used.
- Make the rotary mag MGs actually have their mag rotate. The DP-28’s rotating magazine spinning round like a record player is what gave it it’s nickname, and should definitely be shown in game.
- Bring back the 32-round magazine for the MP-28. The 20-round magazines weren’t even built after like 1932 or something like that.
- The PPD-40 should have a lot lower fire rate. From all info I could find, they ran 800-900 rounds per minute, not 1000. Also replace the PPD-40DSZ in Berlin with a regular PPD-40 and remove it from the standard level tree.
- AVT-40 should have a 10-round magazine and the AVS-36 shouldn’t be in Berlin at all. Everything I can find says 15-round SVT-40 magazines never went beyond a few prototypes and the AVT-40 was mainly issued with 10-round magazines. “But won’t this make the AVT-40 objectively worse than the AVS-36?” Yes, but it already kind of is. Frankly the AVS-36 should be taken out of Berlin period since they were fragile and almost all of them were expended by the end of 1941.
- Make the FG-42 limited to like a Fallschirmjager squad or something. That thing is utterly miserable to fight against and it would be lovely if I saw alot fewer of those on the Battlefield.
- Replace the PPS-42 with the PPS-43. From what I can find these never made it out of the Leningrad area and the Continuation War so what the hell are they doing in Berlin?
- Add more pistols in general, especially for the Axis. I’d suggest making them all .380 or larger because .32 is excessively wimpy. (also maybe add a Konigsberg Colt for a pistol for premium squads maybe that would be cool).
1-Isnt it kinda the point of semi autos to be better than bolt action rifles. And if IRL they were mag fed why shouldnt that be a thing in game
2- sure. Wouldnt really change much
3- sure, they would be replaces by regular handguns soon anyway
4- no- 2 similar bolt actions rifles are more than enough, especially when you get G43 so soon- maybe as tranferable from tunisia/premium squads
magazines cost nearly 10 times more metal then a stripper clips
While I know everyone will be mad at you for calling for stripper clips in semi autos this is infact more correct. Most soldiers were issued maybe 2 spare magazines and the rest was all on stripper clips (relating to the G43 and SVT series). Magazines were expensive so handing out more ammo on clips then spare magazines made alot of sense. This is actually why we see the Lee enfield load only with stripper clips despite it having a quick detach 10 round magazine
This is correct.
What bothers me most is very low ammo on most weapons. You carry sometimes not even half of what a regular trooper would carry. In general carried ammo is often exaggerated in games but here it is the opposite. Mostly rifles and semi-auto rifles are way too limited with ammo compared to what was a typical loadout and also regular rifleman carried some ammo for squad LMG that could also be used in emergency as the ammunition was the same they just had to unload it from MG mags. But in contrast to that many SMGs are much closer to real values but why you carry so few rounds with rifles?
Weren’t the spare mags only to be used if the one in the gun malfunctioned most of the time?
We definitely need more ammo per soldier.
Im not sure of the usage but Im certain if they gave them to an infantryman they were most likely loaded
The LMG gunner didn’t carry much ammo as the gun was already quite heavy he had dedicated loader who carried most of the ammo but MGs ammo consumption is often quite high so they simply distributed as much as they were able to carry to the whole squad and as LMG and standard military rifle shared the same cartridge they could also use it as a reserve ammo pool for themselves.
I don’t think riflemen with Semis had a dedicated ammo bearer lol
I’m talking about LMG - Brens, BARs, MG34/42s etc.
But general rifleman would carry at least 50 rounds in strips and around 100-130 in total with reserve. It differs slightly from army to army but you get roughly similar numbers. But here you have 5/20, 6/24, 10/20 or 8/24 which especially with semi auto is way too low. It is ok if you defend and sit next to an ammo box, but if shoot your way towards the objective it goes down fast and I often end up sitting on objective with empty gun and my luck is that I always pick up weapons like default BA rifle with 1/1 or SMG with 5/0.
