Before coming to my suggestion, I need to explain how I play, I have 10 slots on all nations, I generally have 2 tanks, 2 planes (att/ fighter). My choice of line up is the usual troops I’ve APC squad, Flamers, assaulters, LMG, Medic, Radio ops. Now my to tanks are based on what I think would be suitable based on the potential maps I will get based on my BR and MM.
TLDR I use mixed squads, vehicles, planes based on my expected map, I try my best to ensure vehicle or plane was really used in that area of ww2.
So if we take Allies, I’ll use BR3 to increase chance of Tunisia (Sherman 2, Stuart Flametank), but since new addition of Ardennes, 1 in 10 matches are Tunisia. I usually get uptiered but I fight hard don’t quit, but sometimes we get steamrolled, I’m not able to attack point, keep rallies up and kill tanks.
Now my point , I try and make sure I am as HA as I can be in the Maps I get. I know Sherman’s and Stuart’s were in Pacific, Tunisia and I can get away with it in Ardennes too.
Now I main BR4 Allies so I can increase MM opportunity, to get Pacific, As well as Normandy and Ardennes.
So same squad constitution but I will bring Sherman Jumbo premium for Ardennes and Normandy, I also bring M4a1 to help kill KTs and I also know that M4a1 was used in Pacific.
Now to planes, on BR3 Allied I use P40, P51, the latter to kill KTs, 188s on Ardennes, Normandy, P40 for Tunisia or Pacific.
On BR4 I use the Corsair, either Beaufighter or A20 as both flew in these maps in real life.
Ok so I’m that into HA, I will not use my BR4 Corsair if fighting in Normandy, or likewise no jumbo in Pacific. Or P40 in Normandy.
So by now you might be able to see my challenge, with the merge I build hybrid squads to try and match what I had on that map previously before the merge. But honestly it really doesn’t work, certain planes and vehicles were not in that operation / map, so I don’t use it, which means I have to make do with my squad, which honestly reduces the amount of fun I have fighting hard generally uptiered fights.
This all applies fo axis and soviet squads too.
As part of the merge MM, preferred maps were proposed to be part of match making, could we please add this option back in, I am more than willing to wait a little longer if I knew I would end up in the map of my choice, it would also mean I would not have a split lineup, with preferred map Tunisia, I may be able to match more squads (Italians), tanks and planes to Tunisia only.
In the past similar squad constitution, but had Matilda, spitfire, Mosquito or Beaufighter for Tunisia, but now I have to equip gear for a possible three different maps.
