This is dumb, I’ve already booted 15+ reserve troops am I really expected to send 30 more to the rear?

To be fair, that’s on you for having that many in reserve, not really too much of a reason to be keeping THAT MANY around.

I shouldn’t have been able to have this many to begin with.
Did you use the random troop function during you had premium time activated?

You can “store” soldiers in squads you don’t use… For some reason when if a squad, even if said squad isn’t in your lineup", soldiers don’t count as your reserve tally.
