Recently just played a match that was SO BAD, that it has just killed my motivation.
We were playing on Monastery conquest (not the greatest, but I don’t mind it). The Germans had captured A and C. and had built FLaK guns pointing in each direction making any form of attacks almost impossible.
They held B with regular infantry, but trying to take A and C took so long because by the time we had taken out a FLaK gun, they had killed at least half of my squad and then quickly killed off the rest with grenades or MGs.
By the time I got another squad there, both flak guns had been rebuilt and replenished, meaning we had to grind through the assault over and over again.
Proposal - Remove the ability to build flak guns inside, especially capture points.
I fear this ‘tactic’ will become more common as people notice that it is effective when trying to lock down points.
AT guns aren’t as bad, because of the reload time and the fact they can actually fulfil their intended purpose. Being as they can be positioned in windows to provide good cover for surprise attacking tanks, but an AA gun inside makes no sense other than to grief.
It was teamwork, sure, but for 3 players to organise themselves to build 3 flak guns defending the approaches to 2 capture points, mainly just points to 3 players just wanting to get easy wins without having to work hard.
Its the playstyle that just irritates me. They didn’t deserve the victory at all.
While it is kind of stupid to build AA inside buildings, placing MG nests ability being only available for engineer II kind of justifies this.
Being able to get enough people working together to defend points like this shouldn´t be punished. While its pretty annoying when you are on the receiving end, I have to admit that this is rather rare and admirable.
Well yes the engineers spamming out things is annoying, C has four different ways to enter it, Flak guns have very limited ammo, and A has numerous entrances and windows to throw explosives through.
These tactics are annoying and the building AA guns inside of buildings where they can never shoot at planes should be changed. You do have answers to people trying this.
A has 2 entrances and only a small section of the main room has an external window that can be attacked through - if you are any good at getting grenades into 2nd story windows - rifle grenades are easy, thrown ones not so much.
Punished, no I agree that if they had done conventional defences, sandbags/ barb wire, then that would have been fine.
But having dual AA guns pointing at both the doors, resulting in an instant kill when you first appear is overpowered.
Didn’t have access to rifle grenade (not yet unlocked) and it took 3 troopers to get a grenade close enough to kill one of the AA guns. That was the main issue.
The AAA guns are pretty much regular guns/cannons mounted on the specialized platform to improve their aiming at air targets, and they where used to fight infantry and light vehicles.
Like if we have a bit more detailed modeling we could use MGs against tanks, just as it was done in RL. We already can use HE shells to break tracks and sometimes destroy tanks, which is a nice callback to reality and no meta-modeling from BF and COD.
