So the merge: what's missing from different sides?

So, thinking about the merge i wanted to see what’s missing from the capabilities of the differents side once the teams can face eachother without campaign restrictions. So far I have:

  • Paratroopers for Soviets. Allies will have theoretically 4 and germans 3 squads.

  • Assault engineers for allies / japanese. Soviets and germans will have 2 squads each from stalingrad.

  • Motorcycle squad for soviets / japanese. Allies and germans have theoretically 2 each.

  • Unlockable SP-aa for soviets and germans. Allies have the pacific halftrack and japanese the ta-se.

  • Impact and wp-grenades: soviets don’t have these (or anything else unique in this area)

Anything else?

sure, for those who wants :+1: ( and we have a working sdkfz flak 6, AB 42 for axis )
although, nothing for the soviets.

we were supposed to have the various variants of the milk truck with maxims, ddsh, and few others ,but those have been pulled away from the game )

they don’t need them.

beside… WP are useless now days, and impact are… kinda … we don’t talk about those.

as, soviets of unique, gets more smgs compared to the germans ( i mean… there are the italian ones, but beside the mab… eh… it’s more of subjectivity )

beside that… they get uhh… yeah they don’t get alot.

But they will not be obtainable + there are no ARs in Japanese arsenal anyway.

It’s like wanting every faction to possess aircrafts with fuel tanks. Meh.

Sure, but after the historical accuracy skullfucking that the game has gone through in the various campaigns (plus, for instance the german fantasy-HMG), I think the game is not really about asymetrical balance.

Anyway, I’m just making a list.

They could get AT-handgrenades.

I think a 6-man assault squad with full engineer squad build capacity is one of the strongest squads out there. :man_shrugging:

6 stgs is not really different from 9 fgs… avts. or whaterver.

similar(ish) to the assaulter squads of the pacific / stralingrad.

where they can have 6 automatic weapons through assaulters, medic and machinegunner.

it’s… just something different.

Everything but Paratroopers for Soviets will probably be left unequal.
I think the way to look at this is not “unequal per nation” but rather “unequal to pre and post merge”. More specifically “unequal to people who managed to grab these squads during the short period where many of this was available vs people that didn’t”.
War Thunder also has highly unique vehicles in events that are very hard, or impossible, to come by afterwards. I like this format because the nature of war is inherently unbalanced and this makes following active development more fun. There is stuff that I missed but that makes new and future event stuff all the more precious to me.

Btw you left out (and I’m sure I’m forgetting things here):
-Rocket tanks for Japanese.
-Many different aircraft configurations like a Fw-190 being able to carpet bomb or a Hurricane with 2x 40mm.
-Semi auto shotguns for any but US.
etc.

Actually when I think about it, tech tree SPAA’s would make sense to get added for all nations but wouldn’t be surprised if also left alone.

I hope we’ll just get option to pick up some different weapon classes for soldiers which can’t normally take them (via veteran perk system which is teased for years already).
It would make your soldiers more unique. And it would make more sense rather than add another hard exception to “balance” beta veterans.
(Yeah, it would make meta even more Full auto but I really don’t care. BA lovers will mostly be bullying newbies on low BRs anyway)

There’s no need to add something which will be purposely discontinued.
Plus Germany has so many good non AR weapons… that 2 engineer squads with ARs really aren’t that exceptional.
Plus it gets very quickly to play them over and over again. That’s why I am trying out BA with GL squads currently at Stalingrad. Something I was always ignoring. It’s just not fun using the same setups 24/7. And there’s so many options which you can choose from playing German faction.

Plus in my opinion this game really isn’t about equipment balancing. Since there’s so many casuals, that if you are gamer for years already, you can very easily dominate every match (No matter which equipment you are currently using) .
People just using balance for their own benefits (same for historical facts btw). Using it as argument to add something they want and to restrict something they don’t like. It’s never ending story.

Ampulomet for Allies/Japanese. (damn, Germans once again getting every single piece of potential equipment except for unlockable SPAAs)

I guess it will be cool that there is Sth to match everything. ie pershing or 76 jumbo to match tiger 2, t20 garand to match fg 42 2 vice versa

I prefer asymmetrical balance and configurations, nothing is missing in your list, it’s just preference to have for your team. I can understand it but don’t agree

US and Japan missing a lategame AT launcher

Wait till you meet Tiger II H as US or Pershing as Japan

Germans (and soviets) have Attacker pilots III, which the USA don’t have (Japanese either, but only USA will have to face German Attacker III pilots). Maybe the machines will be able to be matched by strength but Germans will have pilots with 1 more skillpoint per each skill than allied pilots which can enable them to have perk combos that the allies will fail to afford.

this will definitely get close cause this is 2 month old unless mod are going to leave this one open for some reason but close the 5 month old one for some reason

That’s why I said before that they probably meant AUTOMATIC weapons, ie automatic rifles. Engineers have access to both bolt, semi, and auto rifles and every Premium of whatever class maintains that system, so most likely the 4 “assault engineers” are just going to have an automatic rifle

It’s proven because Japan literally has no weapon close to an actual assault rifle, and America has the M2 carbine which is a Riflemen weapon
