… I think that unless the snails do something really smart with the new changes, I can already see how playing attacking side on high tier will be an absolute nightmare.
Almost every single time it’s gonna be the same experience of charging into a landmine + barbed wire + flamethrower + molotov / white phosporus + artillery + bomber + grey zone campign unpenetrable tank + heavy machine gun spam fuckfest.
Berlin is almost intolerable already, playing the game feels almost like fucking work with the amount of sweating you have to do there to try and take a point.
Wich is why I wanted to play against bots since Day 1 because of how unfun the game gets when in full lobbies.
I was planning to unlock the IS-2 but then I thought “So I will grind in the sweatiest campaign for a vehicle just so I can keep sweating when the rework drops? Fuck that noise”. When they add a coop mode I hope it´s gonna have full XP because that´s what I´m gonna play half the time.
I stopped grinding the (very few) stuff I still don’t have, as they’re all end game stuff (like IS2 for example).
Using IS2 will mean facing almost exclusively: stg44, stg44 sniper, mg45 (or whatever is classed high br), fg42II and KT.
Might appeal to some as many are hyped with it… But it’s not for me. I like my Mosins.
Hopefully they stay true to their word (lol ) and rework customs entirely so that mixed weaponry/vehicles remain a thing somewhere. Dreaming is living…
I do not think that all players will be on the top dash in the team, the balancer will throw the same players on the weaker by analogy with the War Thunder. And we will have 4-5 conditional owners of top weapons and those who are weaker.
Yeah. I doubt ill ever play top tier. I enjoy my early war gameplay too much. Been more focusing on having all my early gear and unlocks from relevant campaigns.
Pullimg out the old panzer IIIs this week and min maxing crew and gear. Absolute blast
I love bolt actions. I also love mid tier to late tier tanks. In short, I used very varied and mixed weaponry tier and was fine.
War thunder MM won’t allow my play style. If I want to use bolties, I’d better use pz2 or I’ll handicap myself. If I want to use Kiraly, I’d better ditch pz2 and use pz4h, or I’ll handicap myself.
WT mm is nice and all on paper, but will only satisfy those already spamming end tier stuff and nothing else, OR fresh newcomers with 10 battles top.
I reckon it will be the vehicles that will be handicapped moreso than the weapons. Vehicles mostly cant punch above their weight but rifles at least can. (So you could at least still enjoy your mid late tanks with early infantry, just not late infantry with early tanks)
Sorta have a preview of this in moscow if you insist on using panzer IIs and IIIs vs all the t34s and 50s (which i have been because i like them. At least they still very effective anti infantry lol )
Oh about that you should be fine: they mentioned somewhere in the blogs that we will be able to save some preset squads of various tiers.
But it won’t change the fact that if you want to use one weapon or vehicle tier “5” for example, that EVERYTHING you use should be tier 5 as well, not more nor less, to prevent being severely handicapped.
Again, customs will be “da way”… if reworked correctly.
Sadly, not really… While I’m good with bolties, I would quickly get overwhelmed vs only AVS/AVT or m2 or fg42II.
Yeah, i remember seeing that as too. Which to me screams “i only play 1 campaign side with more focus on defense, but don’t actually defend at all but play as a retarded sniper / pilot / tanker doing my own thing - why do i lose?”
Its obvious attack is harder than defend … and Berlin is a Meatgrinder like it was in 1945 the CQB fights are always hard
Attacking is already harder, but it will probably be absolute bs in the future. The points are too easy to cover, the flanks too open, the map design sometimes too downright shit for the games to be even vs. full sweat team.
In reality attacking side would seldom, for instance, attack with 1:1 ratio. That’s enlisted though.
I play both sides, and I will say that generally offense is far easier. This is because (at least in invasion mode) you can take the objective even with an uncoordinated team as defense can’t decrease the capture on the objective, only work to slow it. In addition, there is no time in between objectives, so if you sprint from the edge of the greyzone behind old objective as soon as the objective is taken, you can usually arrive at the next objective before the majority of defenders.
Not only that, but in most situations there aren’t even defenses stopping you from pushing right into the objective. This is because the defenders aren’t given any kind of knowledge ahead of time as to where the next objectives are.
Personally, I’ll either try to make a guess as to where the objective is going, or attempt to set up hazards on the path to the possible objectives when on defense. Because try as I might, even with people in my party, fighting front lines as constant cannon fodder rarely works on defense. I’d say about 80% of the time holding an objective for long enough to bleed the necessary amount of tickets is ONLY done when there are decent fortifications present. Enough to make up for the incompetence of teammates.
If you’re in a situation where you can chill back at the grey zone while the rest of the team is capping the point, i can only think that the defending teams you face are very weak.
If you are playing against equal or better team, simply taking the point is often either impossible or prohibitively expensive im tickets. Defenders usually hold all advantages when fighting for the point.
Btw, didn’t you say somewhere that you mainly play squadded up? Because if yes, then of course your experience will be vastly different to average.
I play both solo and squadded up. I detest playing solo though because the average player is often worse than bots. Even when I set rally points, sandbag cover, ammo boxes, etc players usually don’t use them when playing in a solo game. Which is really dumb when they start spamming “need rally point, need ammo box” when they are literally right there.
At least with my squad there is some shared intelligence.
Don’t forget that if those max levels sweaty mcsweat sweats have to wait for a few mins in new BR MM they will then just dump them into any low level match and really F the low level BR’s and new players.
It won’t fix the fact the current new player Enlisted experience is abit like a job that you pay for as a slog and hope you don’t get the same crap matches against max level dweebs but since the playerbase isn’t exactly growing all your likely going to get at certain hours in regions is the same set of max levels over and over. Not exactly an appealing prospect even for a freemium game.
The Devs got powercreep fever and this is the end result.
All the stuff from the start just doesn’t hold a candle to proto end of the war guns and then you combine that with no limit in place to stop defenders from having infinity tanks and planes other then how fast they can kill themselves in them and high level matches attacking is the worst which is part of the reason why the side that play on defense the most also has the highest playerbase.
Clearly the devs have no idea how badly they have messed up the current state of the Attack/Defend is and their god awful band-aid of adjusting tickets and cap times make the game worse not better.
If one side is beyond dominating the solution isn’t to handicap the shit out of that sides tickets and cap speed it’s to actually try and balancing the game and also redesign map layouts to stop making certain point stupid easy to defend (bridge cap point of go F yourself anyone?), but just looking at WR and then stomping on one sides throat till the WR starts to even out is a much easier and lazier solution.
