I used MP40 as an example because it’s on the most extreme ends of how it works vs how it should work.

So curently weapons are mounted on mags even if there is enough place to do it properly.
MP40 had a hook under the barrel. It was used to catch the sides of the vehicles so the gun won’t slide inside for example.
Idea is: mount guns on their barrels when it’s possible and if not, mount them on the mags like currently.
